What's their best album? My vote goes to Heaven Tonight.
I personally like In Color better
In Color would be 10/10 if the alt version of I Want You to Want Me was used instead.

Is it cheating to say Live at Budokan?
s/t by far

Yeah, I'd say so

S/T for me, Hot Love is an underrated song.

The Steve Albini version of In Color.
>>72798172
Budokan would win every time, even in edited form, so I guess.

Cheap Trick > Heaven Tonight > In Color > One On One > Next Position Please > All Shook Up > Dream Police >>> the rest

I haven't heard Lap of Luxury in full.

Why am I only hearing about this now?

Gotta lurk more my dude. Half of Cheap Trick's best stuff is unrealsed or buried in the compilation Sex, America, Cheap Trick

>Dream Police that low
STOP RIGHT THERE
>>72799650
I'd put it higher if Voices wasnt such a shit song.
Heaven Tonight would be better if the production wasn't so slick and sterile.
Shame too since all the songs are GOAT!
For me it will always be a tie for the first two albums.
>>72798172
At Budokon is perfection in and of itself so yes that WOULD be cheating.

Guys.
Threads like these are what FUCKED me by making me waste my time going through their *entire* discography :(
Their only above-'nah, this isn't worth listening to ever again' album is their FIRST, and that record is fan-god-damned-tastic.
Somehow, their most recent albums (excluding the last 2016 one) have been their most-tolerable since 197-fucking7, pretty much
I just can't fucking hear how those 3 after the s/t are touted as their best...
In Color: incredible intro, tracks 2-7 are all 2/5s (save I Want You to Want Me, which is a better and less cheesy version than the live hit, christ). Southern Girls & Come On, Come On are good songs, and So Good to See You is a 3/5 meh closer.
Heaven Tonight: title track is great, unlike any of the other songs. How Are You? is the only other good one; the rest range from 1(California Man) - 3/5s
This is going to *massively* trigger everyone here, I'm sure, but oh well:
s/t 1977
>>>
Next Position Please > The Latest (2009) > Rockford > Special One
>>
At Budokan {the last 3/5 album here, the following are all 2s and below} > Heaven Tonight > In Color > Dream Police > All Shook Up > One On One
>
s/t 1997 = Standing on the Edge > The Doctor
>
Busted ≥ Woke up With a Monster ≥ Lap of Luxury > BZC...H (2016)
It's weird: *all* of their albums have a couple of 3/5 tracks & maybe even some 4s, but they're surrounded by so much way-too-cheesy & so-often-ridiculously-boring 1s & 2s :(
