Huge fan of their early work, in particular their first two albums. They were pretty much perfect. Their other work never struck me the same but it was still solid stuff...Until we got Color Out of The Sun. Huge disappointment.

In Keeping... is one of the best albums ever

One of those bands your older brother listened too and you remembered them one day and found they were actually pretty good.

I'm just getting into The Dear Hunter, but I gotta say their orchestral bits come off really tryhard. Maybe tryhard isn't the right word, but like >>72785680 said, Coheed is blissfully cheesy, that's why we get shit like "DIE WHITE GIIIIIIIIIIIIIRLS!". I guess maybe I'm just comparing apples to oranges but I think they take themselves too seriously sometimes

i don't doubt it. i haven't listened to 2 most recent act albums but i am a sucker for symphonic shit that intertwines with rock music. i do not enjoy symphonic metal though

The drummer broke into (or maybe just stole) some alcohol from a liquor store. He was dropped for a while for obvious reasons.

Saw them last year and they have one of those annoying cult followings of hairy dudes and hipster chicks that really turned me off them

It was like holding a mirror up to myself and realising that I am one of those dudes, and wondering if I annoy other people the same way. I haven't been the same since. It was a strange night

Blog aside, the music's good. First 3 albums are all killer no filler
