Morrissey had good lyrics and had an interesting style, I'll give you that, but Smith was also an incredibly good musician and most of Morrissey's lyrical accomplishments are from his wit, Smith's accomplishments are a lot more to do with the emotions his songs were meant to bring out, especially his depression.
