I know it's popular to prefer the Ramones to the Sex Pistols around here, for various reasons, but let's be honest here, the Sex Pistols just wrote way catchier, punchier, more powerful, edgier songs overall. They were just better at the whole punk rock thing, at least from a musical standpoint.

The only reason this board prefers the ramones is because it's majoritively American
Not only better music, but the musical influence the Pistols had was far greater as well.
daily reminder PIL is superior to both
The Damned always were and always will be the best of the first-wave UK punk bands. Machine Gun Etiquette and The Black Album are masterpieces on par with Fun House and Raw Power.

The Ramones were more pop-ish punk to me while Sex Pistols were closer to hard rock to me. So Ramones pretty much catchier songs to me but Sex Pistols had more punch. The Pistols were a bunch of asswipes though

buzzcocks were better.
I agree with this. I love both bands..and you need to respect what they both did for punk. In this case I think the Pistols win though. Romones got huge in America and we're primarily catchier punk-pop...not pop punk..there is a difference!

the important thing is that The Clash are better than both of them, combined
>>72754364
the clash were embarrassing pseudo political funk pop, they were anti punk. their entire design was to be cool
