I found a still sealed copy of Kilroy Was Here (1983). How uncommon is that?
Have you never heard of discogs?
And sealed vinyl doesn't prove shit although it's an indicator. Vinyl wrapping is very easily faked.
my beat up copy is cooler
Currently spinning this classic
And as a matter of fact now that I look at it your wrapping is obviously faked. It's called blow dry cellophane or whatever. the only kind that can't be faked is for CD and DVD factory sealed where it's folded. If any wrapping isn't factory folded then it's just simple blown dry cellophane that anyone can do at home.

play that shit. Its great man
Awesome thanks for the general. My vinyl just got delivered to the apartment office. I may not have checked otherwise. Brb

>>72736825
This is the shiniest fake sealed vinyl ever. With zero marks on the disc itself too
How is it old records have the hole punched directly in the middle and new ones are off center so often?
>>72736851
Well yeah that's probably why they did it is that it could pass.
This thread really did save my ass.
>>72736932
Hint: It was an original sealed album
>>72736951
About the shoddiest factory seal I've ever seen if it is. I mean could there be anymore slack on that corner? Again though like I said it's a moot point either way. Factory and home record seals are done the same exact way. Just a lot less precision at home. If anyone buys a sealed record then its just on faith ultimately. However as shown there are indicators.
>>72737022
Nigga it doesn't take 10 minutes to post a picture and cut some tape
>>72737091
Wut I'm talking about where he bought it from or where even they bought it from etc. I mean that could have been done 20 years ago and likely was.
>>72737022
Doesn't explain why the cover looks mint. There would be scratches on it even if it was in a plastic holder all this time
>>72737134
Huh? There are mint records from a century ago. Again like I said it doesn't matter tbough. The point being that when someone buys a sealed record they should take that into considethough. That it shouldn't matter if it is sealed. It literally does not prove anything.
This record just came out this week and its in a bag. Sealing records has no true value.
>>72737221
There is nothing worse than buying something used online and upon receiving it the item is definitely not as described and much more beat up. "VG+" and it's at best Good rated.
>>72736951
Yeah I just realized there was a sticker on the wrapping. Which is an important point to remember. I guess the looseness came from literally 30 years of tugging.
>>72736617
Luckily not at all. I'm showing that if you had sold it retail then you would have been lucky to get $20
in the last week: I've gotten Mono's Under the Pipal Tree reissue, Requiem for Hell and The Last Dawn. I've also gotten Hiss Tracts and Watter. Oh and this list here. And no I'm no wealthy. I've been selling shit on eBay and have latterly just using that money and an amazon gift card helped.
preordered the new Melvins album
>that album you will never own because it hasn't been depressed and costs well over $100 for a bad quality one
>>72740314
>depressed
Repressed

Anyone have a turntable recommendation? I don't know much about them since I'm looking to give it as a gift. I've been looking into it but the reviews of the ones I've seen talk about how they break down after a short while and other problems.
>>72741485
at-lp120
>>72741511
This is the one you're reffering to, correct? https://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-AT-LP120-USB-Direct-Drive-Professional-Turntable/dp/B002S1CJ2Q
Again, I don't know much of anything about turntables, but looking through the above page it says it doesn't come with internal speakers, won't that be an issue? Or is there a set of speakers that work with it that you recommend? There is also a comparison chart on the amazon page to other models, is the one you were talking about still the best one?
>>72741485
I have a Debut Carbon Esprit from Project. Works well. 45's have a noticeable hum and turning on the subwoofer is an awful idea.
>>72741738
Is that better than this anon's suggestion? >>72741511
Can you explain a bit about it to a retard like me the pros and cons of each?
>>72741880
Well, the Pro-Ject is over twice the cost for starters. Has a better stylus and carbon fiber tone arm. I was talking to the guys at The Needle Doctor about what I was looking for and he immediately past the at-lp120. But I have a feeling that with all the research I did it was because I realized I was going to spend $500+ on one. The rest of my system is high grade stuff.
>>72741966
> I was talking to the guys at The Needle Doctor about what I was looking for and he immediately past the at-lp120
You mean he past by it, knowing that you wanting something better or that he went to show it to you, and you turned that one down because you realized you wanted a higher grade one? This Debut Carbon Esprit certainly looks sleek, but I'm not sure if it is worth it if I don't have other high grade system things like you do (which would be what, by the way? Do I need more than just the turntable to get it to play well?)
>>72741583
Turntables generally have one of two setups
Turntable -> Receiver/Amplifier -> Speakers
OR
Turntable -> Speakers
You need to know if the turntable has a Phono Preamp section built in. If it DOES, then you do not need a receiver/amp. If it DOES NOT, then you will need a receiver/amp that has Phono Input. (Note SOME DO NOT) You need to know what the person has first before you get them this as a gift
Sorry I missed this earlier.
>>72742040
He mentioned it once but told him I was looking for something in the $500 range. I had looked at the ATLP in articles and reviews many times and ended up deciding I wanted something better. As for my setup, I have a Marantz 2325 and Klipsch Cornwall speakers.
The Marantz has phono input and the turntable does not so it all works out for me.
>>72742096
You can buy external phono preamps even if the table and amp don't have them. I have no experience in this though.
>>72740314
>Album was reissued not long ago
>It's also out of print and selling for hundreds just like the original
God fucking damnit can someone just repress Hex already
>>72736825
It doesn't looked faked to me. Especially with the sticker and price tag still on it.
>>72742096
Thank you, this is all very helpful to know.
So you saw the ATLP but didn't get it because it wasn't that great or more because you could afford something even better? If the ATLP doesn't look good for that price range that's different than it not looking good compared to the Pro-Ject.
Do you guys also collect CDs? I've been collecting vinyl for a while now, and I just recently picked up a CD player and I honestly like it more than vinyl, while I still like collecting both.
Bermp
>>72744177
It's probably a fine device. I just wanted something better.
>>72744214
Nothing compares to the artwork size of vinyl
>>72744721
True
>>72744214
If I had an "auto flip" player aka linear play like I think it's called a Sharp 117 or something then I would prefer vinyl
>>72745191
>Sharp 117
Interesting device but I can't imagine it being that great
>>72745381
How can you not? My 7" collection in particular drove me insane. I never wanna flip another record ever again.
>>72745408
This. I have the Thundercat Drunk 4LP and damn is it frustrating to get through.
Love vinyl but damn. Even the 4LP MBDTF is annoying.
>>72745511
Have you seen videos for the Sharp? It's like porno.
did nobody else get the labyrinth remaster?
TFW i missed out on this record store day must have because i was busy getting my soul scuked by an ex gf
After Paradise Theatre, no one listened to Styx. It was the eighties. It wasn't cool. It's still not cool. Listen to Cornerstone, it's better.
Huge longshot, but does anybody know where I could secure a vinyl of the Pat the Bunny/Ceschi split? Or if anybody has it, how willing are you to part with it?
Building up my pat collection and I know this one will be rough to get. Luckily I managed to grab one of the 100 lathe cuts of Cocoon Music before they sold out.
