Lets talk about the man, the myth, the legend, the godfather of soul, originator of funk, James Brown.
Favourite albums, songs, era, style?
Live at the Apollo is the best live album ever by a lot. Best performer ever to boot. Seriously, his live songs are all better than the studio versions

dunno about albums, but his early 70s output is the best imo...his early (papas got a brand new bag, plesepleseplease,) stuff hasn't aged as well

I adore his early stuff. But I love 50s and 60s RnB. It's so charming

i hear ya, & i love little willie john/hank ballard but to me his harder funk stuff he had no peers he was his own genre
Hardest working man in show business
GET UP
was james brown ever on the fresh prince of bel air or am I thinking of someone else
Bring it Up is literally the most dance-able track of all time. I actual plan on creating a shrine to James Brown in my home one day.

star time has all you need.
but i dunno, if you want full albums I am not your guy, I just know that Star Time offers a lot of quality music and my impression is that with Brown's stuff his approach of interminable grooves might not warrant completism. it's like do you really want to listen to Fela Kuti all the time even though it's impressive stuff? dunno.
Absolutely based
