Do you have any idea what genre of metal you like?

Definitely start digging through the discography of black sabbath in that case. Listen to their classic albums. Then literally just look up "classic metal album" in google or put "metal" into rym. Try the most popular and highest rated albums from each subgenre of metal and get an idea of what you like.

Pic related is an album you might dig. Also Danzig 2 is not super aggressive but still metal as well, more bluesy so its easier for non metal listeners to get a handle on it.

Just dont, I barely listen to metal in my 20s now, save a new mastodon/anthrax release I dont really give a shit about metal anymore. I could barely find metal bands I liked as a teen and the same as an adult, every other metal album these days is hardcore screaming and earache inducing guitars.

a few mentioned Black Sabbath, I recommend them too. Forefathers of the genre, you can't go wrong. Lots of albums to choose from, all basically with their own sound while still being considered metal albums by most.

When you're ready to dive into more fucked up extreme metal some of my favorites are Messugah, Neurosis, and Peste Noire.
