its an established term and classifier whether you agree with it or not. it may have started as bait and a meme but it is an accurate descriptor that if used i know exactly what they mean. all genres and classifiers start out the same way. someone uses it and it catches on.... mallgoth does not = bad. it means quirky spooncore for dark edgy kids. i like quitte a good deal of it i enjoy.

its like "krautrock" which started out derogatory and mean but exists as a good descriptor that accurately describes a very specific type of music
