His solo work is more varied, and his vocalizations are more structured and thoughtful imo.
His Smiths work is more raw, emotional, and impacting.

I agree with this. Lyric-wise I find his solo work to be more clever and well-written as well, while his Smiths lyrics are more emotional and impacting

Several of his early solo songs are just as good as anything the Smiths ever made, but for the most part you're wrong.
>kiss me a lot kiss me a lot
>kiss me all over my face
>kiss me a lot kiss me a lot
>kiss me all over the place
and
>Lifeguard, lifeguard, save me from life.
and
>your boyfriend he went down on one knee. well could it be, He's only got one knee?
and
>we hate it when our friends become successful
>we hate it when our friends become successful
>oh look at those clothes, now look at that face it's so old
>and such a video (? what?)
>oh it's really laughable, ah ha ha ha ha ha, ha ha ha ha ha, ha ha ha ha, ah ha ha ha ha, et cetera.
like 30% of solo morrissey's discography is unlistenably bad. there's only like 3 bad smiths songs.
I think Morrissey's solo stuff, at its best, is better than anything The Smiths did (I've Changed My Plea to Guilty, Springheeled Jim, Everyday is like Sunday, etc.), however he's also since written a lot of exponentially worse lyrics and more often than not the songs are completely musically uninspired, and particularly recently, and despite Morrissey's great vocals they just kind of end up falling a bit flat. That said, even World Peace is None of Your Business has some great songs (Staircase at the University, Oboe Concertoe). I personally wish he'd kept on the same track as Kill Uncle, but he disowns everything on that album for some reason.

Funny, I would list completely different highlights that equal the Smiths era. November Spawned a Monster (them lyrics), Ordinary Boys, Seasick, Yet Still Docked, I Know It's Gonna Happen Someday...

It is a wrong opinion.
Nah
He has some decent deep cuts and singles though
