don't act as though you're completely objective, I still cherish the album and highly regard it, but damn is it hard to ignore the countless forced memes about the damn thing

with something like death grips, it's not a big deal because they thrive off of the conversation and reception of the internet, but something earnest with a heart of pure gold like ITAOTS deserves to be preserved

Something that fits the music, while cutting out the extraneous details? A lot of the albums on here that have good album covers tend to be more minimalistic. I guess stuff like hardcore or grindcore can have more cluttered covers, but then again, that fits the music.

Also, I'm kinda surprised there hasn't been a Beatles cover on here yet.

Easily their best cover. I wish they outsourced their album art more, or at least let Stefan make the covers, because their other covers aren't very good.

You could make a case for some of the covers, so it's not like they don't hold any kind of value, I just wish they put a little more effort into it.

Bottomless Pit, Jenny Death, notm, TPTB all shit covers with nothing of value attached to them either. NLDW has a bad cover but at least that one served as a message. I'll give Government Plates a pass, cause that one fits with the visual aesthetic of the music videos for the album.

Going to take the contrarian opinion of this thread and say that the black border is what makes the album art.

To me it always looked more like a frame taken out of some lost recording of them being out swimming, not like still photography, so to me those black borders are a huge part of what makes the mood of that cover what it is.

Like, take this cover. It's a great album, for sure, and the album cover's iconic, in my opinion—but at the same time, it's kind of a standard, plain album cover. So I'm a bit unsure if my positive impression of the cover comes from its legacy as a classic MJ album, or because the cover itself has great design.
