How can one man be so wrong?
I don't really agree with his rating but not because of how low it is but rather because I don't think ambient albums can really be that good or that bad, theyre just ambient. Dont get me wrong Im sure there are some boring or trash ambient albums out there I just think that overall ambient isn't that easy to rate on a scale used for all other music

How was he wrong? He supported his critiques with solid arguements and pointed out why this album is flawed.
That score may be a bit too harsh but it's definitely not a good album

As someone unfamiliar with Wolfgang Voigt or Gas prior to Narkopop, I hear something truly masterful here. I think what makes Voigt's approach to Ambient music on this album so successful is how shrouded it all is. There's that static and sort of hum to it all that fills the space, every tone lingering behind one another, and the entrancing progressions used throughout that shift from melancholy, to contentious, to peaceful. Something special about Voigt's approach to electronic music on Narkopop is that its effect could never be appropriately played or conveyed by a live symphony orchestra. This is electronic music that is truly idiomatic, that belongs in its world of synths and distortion. Narkopop is therefore yet another "lovely apocalypse" that I entrench myself into willingly, and excitedly.

He could have said everything he said then said it's a 9 and no questions would be raised. He's just calculating controversy because he's hopelessly in cahoots with what we think. His reviewing inevitably good better, but he's always been an obvious career strategist before all else.

Critics/other artists seem to appreciate Style's work for some reason recently, take his role in Dunkirk for example.
They might collectively do it to revive his career, although to me it seems like a tinfoil-tier theory.

Why does /mu/ care so much about this guy's opinion?
