James Brown and The Famous Flames: Live at the Apollo is quite possibly the best live album ever made. The cool thing about live albums is they can capture the energy of a performance in a way that studio recordings simply cannot. The songs deviate and meander from the studio recording in sometimes-subtle sometimes-audacious ways, you can get a much better feel for the personality and vibe of the band, sometimes even the crowd makes a live album great.
I love live albums.
