Wouldn't it have made more sense to post the template and THEN the one where you blacked-out half of them?
couldn't care less about /mu/core

You aren't part of the community then, cuckold

When will the /mu/core meme die? It's not like /mu/ is unique in liking ITAOTS or Radiohead or any of this shit. Most of these albums are popular and acclaimed. The closest thing to real /mu/core is maybe Death Grips, Car Seat Headrest, and some shit vaporwave because they were first spread through /mu/.
>>72680348
>>72680713
>>72681562
>too cool to listen to Remain In Light and various other classics because they're "entry level"
Kill yourselves
>>72682079
That is a racist meme, please refrain from posting it here as we do not tolerate racism and bigotry on /mu/
Please help me

Thank you, I will.
Any other albums I should really really listen to? I bought the m50x three days ago and I'm binging.
Never listened to a single metal album lol
>>72680348
Shit m8 you've got to listen to the Velvet Underground.
>>72681499
You should try the White Noise album next to the VU stuff.
>>72682790
>tracks to pay attention to
Fucking all of them you pleb. Unless you're listening to ambient or radio friendly background music, you should be paying attention to all the tracks on any given album.
I'd say at least 10-20 of the albums I left uncovered I listened to years ago but don't remember what they sound like at all. I was gonna rate them but got too lazy. My favorites from each section are
>Weezer
>Beach Boys
>all the emo shit
>John Zorn, Charles Mingus
>cLOUDDEAD, Danny Brown
>Burial, Venetian Snares
>VU, Pink Floyd
and I guess Atheist but clearly I'm not that interested in metal.
>>72683111
Try the stereolab one on here if you like the velvet underground
>>72683364
Yeah man, but I said I can't get into it, so maybe instead of listening to the whole album on repeat I could listen to two or three great tracks until it clicked on me.
It is a classic after all, it's not like we're talking about some obscure crazy slovakian album from the 60s.
Worked for me on a bunch of bands I didn't really get.
>>72683364
>Unless you're listening to ambient
And you're calling other people plebs?
Sorry if this hurts your eyes, i'm not that old here, what should I listen to?
>>72683774
Stop following /mu/core at this point. Delve into whatever genres interest you the most
>>72680348
Can people please stop putting squares over the albums, its awkward to tell what you should try next when I can't see which albums you've listened to (obviously I know most though I'm not going to guess every position).
>>72680348
Try Run the Jewels 2, its a pretty short album and one that's fairly enjoyable.
>>72680713
Fair enough, though I'd recommend it nonetheless, you seem like the kind of person who got introduced to /mu/ via "dad-rock" and would rather experiment with prog-rock and psychedelic music to which I'd recommend the United States of America - s/t. Clocks in just under 40 minutes.
>>72681230
Try Duster - Stratosphere, not that I'm in much of a position to rec stuff. Brilliant album though with a much spacier vibe than most, its slowcore kinda similar to Codeine albeit far quieter and very comfy.
>>72682790
Don't bother with Loveless until you've listened to plenty of other shoegaze bands, you'll start to appreciate the genre and sound as well as being better able to differentiate between the layers of sound. If you aren't already, only listen to Loveless with a headset and at a loud volume (as the mix is low for some reason). Try Snowing - Fuck Your Emotional Bullshit (its only 11 mins, though I haven't listened to it).
>>72683111
If you liked GY!BE try Agalloch - The Mantle, its very similar and takes a lot of influence from the former, it also has a lot of acoustic instrumentation and medieval vocal sorta stuff if you're into that.
>>72683417
Did Fantano encourage you to go on the board by any chance? Try Massive Attack - Mezzanine (and Blue Lines even though it isn't on the chart), its a great gateway into electronic and trip-hop in particular if you're fond of hip-hop.
>>72683774
Make sure you've given all the albums on here at least 10 listens and listen through each artists discography (unless in the case of the Beach Boys where its inconsistent as hell). Try Panda Bear - Person Pitch, you can guess why.
>>72683774
listen to some stuff out of the jazz section.
an approachable album from that list is ryo fukui - scenery
Here be mine. I guess I should finish the main /mu/core...
>>72684644
Thanks for the rec <3
Can't tell your taste just from this obv, but personal faves of mine you haven't marked off are:
Violent Femmes - s/t
Pere Ubu - Modern Dance
Syd Barrett - The Madcap Laughs
Slick Rick - The Great Adventures of Slick Rick (really fun and funny album)
DJ Shadow - Endtroducing...
>>72684778
Can't really compare a lot of the bands to say which are my favourites, the Butthole Surfers would certainly be up there though with early Modest Mouse, Codeine & Duster. I'll make sure to try Syd Barrett next, need to find a download for Modern Dance. Bought Endtroducing... to get free delivery from Amazon a few months ago, guess its about time. Thanks for the recs!
>>72684644
Thank you!
I'm getting into Slowdive atm, the last album was amazing.
someone post the original
>>72684764
You should give early-mid Modest Mouse a listen, especially the two listed on sub-/mu/core. Also try White Light/White Heat and Velvet Underground. They're both incredible as their debut in my eyes.
>>72685077
The self-titled? That album's gold (if memed a bit, thanks RYM). Honestly tempted to say I prefer it to Just for a Day and Souvlaki, its surprisingly good for a comeback. Pygmalion is a classic.
>>72685126
Here ya go senpai
>>72685154
Well, since I'd never even listened to Slowdive until a few days ago, my pleb opinion is that it's way more pleasant than Souvlaki.
Most of the songs on Slowdive 2017 sounded amazing instantly. So good. That's a lot for a guy who could never get a single shoegaze song except for OX4.
I do listen to alot of music but I have been neglecting mu core for a while.
Someone give me some metal recs from here:
I like lamb of god, napalm death, and a bit of sabbath and metallica
>>72685609
btw my list is kind of outdated but by like I think 10 maybe 15 albums i got mu core knocked out except for like mbv, radiohead, godspeed, and microphones
here is me
>>72685609
go for melvins and neurosis
I'm good as far as the main /mu/-core but all the genre specific stuff (besides metal) could use some brushing up.
>>72685609
Listen to Converge (Jane Doe is the one on the chart)
Listen to Paranoid (didn't you say you like sabbath?)
Listen to Death (Human is on the chart)
Listen to Burzum (Filosofem on the chart) and if you like it listen to Murmuure
>>72685696
Twin-motherfucking-Fantasy
also Modest Mouse
>>72685769
