Favourite REM album? Why?
it has best hits
Reckoning because it has Don't Go Back to Rockville.

I'm inclined to agree but it's got Shiny Happy People, which is a bit of a misstep in my opinion. Same thing with Stand on Green.
Pic related is their best then Murmur, Monster.
Honorable mentions: Up, Accelerate, LRP. (basically their whole discography)

I've only heard Murmur, what else should I give a try?

Reckoning

going chronologically isn't a bad idea

Chronological except skip Fables for now.

What exactly is going on in the album art?

Everyone praises how they put their spin on country music on this album as to why its a classic, but I don't see the greatness of it next to Green and Automatic on each side of it in their catalog
Murmur to Document is a superb run, Automatic is also great. Reckoning has a reputation as a difficult album, but I don't know why(?)

Fables is more difficult.

Stand is way better than Shiny Happy People, not much substance but it's just a nice fun song
favorite's gotta be Automatic for the People but Green is a close second
