No it does not (and it doesn't really apply to Kraftwerk either)...a lot of bands get praised to high heaven for being influential even though those same people hate almost everything they influenced. Nirvana is a perfect example.

Though you're right, maybe not all artists are beaten by those to come 100% of the time. I just think it's pointless to argue whether artists are surpassed by younger artists; it's not always fair to compare an older musician against music that didn't even exist during their time.

I could mention other albums that are more perfect than the banana album, and indeed many of the concepts were improved in their later albums, but what they did there at that point in time is just mindblowing.
