are you saying season 2 is commercial?
because I think season 1 is more conventional
Emerson, Lake & Palmer
>>72655880
>>72655905
Season 2 means a batshit return that has very little in common with the original's tone
>>72655941
>descends into total and utter pretentious wank
well there it is
does anyone remember when Catherine dressed up like an Asian man and everyone fell for it
what the fuck was that
>>72655987
holy fuck, I'd forgotten about that
top kek
According to one RYM reviewer, it is this album.

Television's second album

Post-Blackmore Deep Purple.
>>72655861
Post Scary Monsters Bowie. Sometimes genius, sometimes forgettable, sometimes incredibly stupid, sometimes innovative and daring.

Well, they descended to pop after that. Take that as you will. Love Beach...
Beach Boys Love You
>>72655861
season 2 was weaker but it had some great moments. the amount of filler in season 2 made me want to blow my brains out
the last episode of Twin Peaks is also the best episode in the whole series
WHo else pumped for season 3? I'm just concerned about the ridiculous amount of old people in the cast.
It is Smile. Prove me wrong.
>>72658833
t. burden of proof
>>72657612
Have you ever been to a small town in buttfuck nowhere in America? It's almost entirely old people.

What is the twin peaks of season 2 music?
Season 2 is patrish as fuck. to be fair though, I didn't care for it the first time I watched it.
>>72657612
Honestly the cast being so old now makes everything feel creepy as fuck (judging from the trailers) and seems to be setting a really grim mood that I'm excited for. Who knows though
>>72657612
>>72658991
I'm guessing the original cast will barely be in it. small cameos in the first episode and thats it.
>>72658870
not an argument
>>72659043
I think your wrong.
the residents' entire discography
sometimes absolutely amazing
sometimes absolutely shit tier
consistently weird as fuck as relative to their respective medium

>>72657437
S2E7 has the single greatest moment in the show
It's top 3 lynch scenes
if you removed the Donna/James subplot and Billy Zane, season 2 would be better than season 1

Donna is objectively an ugly mean cunt who almost ruined the show and gave James more screen time

I figured it out when Eraserhead tried to buy "him" a pint of milk. Before that i thought they were just being amusingly insensitive with that character.
>>72655946
Well it finished up the main arc alright, then went batshit trying to tie up every sideshow.

it is an odd year, remember? seems like you cannot leave the cycle.
>>72660641
Confederate Ben made absolutely zero sense and I loved every second of it
Little Nicky and anything and everything involving Dick Tremayne was a waste of time though
>>72660432
I agree
Season 2 up to that point is still pretty top tier too
It's just that almost everything afterwards until the last 2 episodes is stupid filler
>>72655946
the last 2 episodes were good too
>>72663048
>not liking based Dick
hello redd*t
I'll see /mu/ in 25 years.
>>72656306
Spot on since after his pop stint he went art rock and then full on mystic just like S02
What is the twin peaks season 3 of music?
>>72663906
m b v
>>72658991
Fire Walk With Me is probably a better representative of how S3 is going to be. All episodes directed by Lynch with no broadcast network restrictions is going to equal some dark shit.
>>72664007
Mark Frost is there, too.
>>72660641
Confederate Ben was ok. It had nothing to do with the story but at least it was entertaining. Everything else was trash. They should have skipped everything between the killer being revealed and the last few episodes.
>>72663985
Please don't be true, mbv was shit
>>72661666
JU JU SSST T Y YOU
>>72661666
Sounds like some Flaming Lips B-side
>>72661564
James is a lot of things but none of them is "bro".
He's not the huge foreheaded blister in the show like most people paint him but he deserves some hate.
>>72663048
Twin Peaks is god-tier up until season 2 episode 9. Episodes 10 - 21 range from alright to flat out embarrassing. The last episode alone redeemed it however. Some people say the last 2 episodes are both great. But every time I've re-watched it I just don't see it. Other than the fact that it leads up to the final episode there's still some stupid shit in the second to last episode.
>>72666131
Episode 8 and 9 of Season 2 are garbage, the dip in quality is immediately apparent after the Lynch episode that had the reveal.
They were not worthy follow up episodes, they treated the subject matter with the nuance of an axe, not to mention they turned Bob and Leland into a caricature cartoon joke.
I will never understand the appraisal for those two episodes, I guess cause they still deal with the main storyline is why, but they handled the aftermath like shit.
>>72667115
They're still well made and as far as I can recall the dip into the completely laughable/embarrassing plot lines didn't start until episode 10 or 11.
I understand if you don't like the direction the plot went in after episode 7, but that alone is not enough to put episodes 8 and 9 in the same league as shit like runaway james or little nicky.
Also, I agree that episode 7 is superior to 8 and 9. All of the Lynch directed episodes are superior. However, the follow-up episodes still went in the direction Lynch intended.
Great start, falls off halfway, comes back for a great end.
>>72660691
>Nadine in high school
>great
>>72667115
Yes and no to that one m8. Episode 7 is probably the best or second best of season 2. But the reason those follow up episodes aren't as good is because the reveal was never supposed to happen like that. The mystery of Laura/Bob was supposed to continue through the entire series but Lynch was pretty much forced to give closure.
So as a result the reveal is great, however them being forced to tie up loose ends feels a bit forced which is why the Leland/Bob stuff feels cartoony I guess. It's a shame too because it was handled so well in FWWM. I think the reason it feels so out of place is because of how sudden it was.
Overall I think they handled the follow up episode as well as they could have. IMO there's a huge drop off around episode 10. Though it is arguable that it started as early as episode 8.
>>72655901
I think this is an accurate answer. Mostly filler with a few good ones sprinkled in.
>>72667400
FWWM is able to switch between the strained but at times genuinely happy family play the Palmers have, and the opressiveness of the secret hanging between the three of them, edging it to a breaking point in a way that doesn't look forced as fuck, probably because they don't try to hammer in the possession aspect of Leland's character with dumb visual cues like episodes 7 and 8 do. Did they really need to add that many mirror shots with superimposed BOB?
So is this show hipster garbage, or is it actually worth a watch?
>>72669265
season 1 is incredible. Season 2 sort of drags on still amazing.
Watch it - preferably stony
>>72657437
>that James subplot
what a waste of time
>>72669265
It is a great show that was co-opted by hipster garbage.
Definitely worth watching
>>72669330
>>72669359
hm alright thanks. What exactly does season 1 have that season 2 didn't?
>>72669265
Good show with a terribly pretentious fanbase
>>72669265
definitely worth watching. I will say I think the show is more enjoyable if you watch an episode or two a day instead of marathoning every episode in a couple days.
>>72667323
Nah that's one of Ariel's more consistent (and boring) newer albums
I will agree though if your point is early > new
more focused and more involvement from Frost and Lynch.
