Honestly the whole thing that I think really made Queen special was how it could have many different styles converging into one single legitimately glam thing. Freddie Mercury definitely had the style, and their earlier albums with the heavier guitarwork really help it set up a glam rock that isn't the arena rock. Still very much about the live act, though. Honestly the Taylor-Deacon-May interplay in those albums was also peaking as well.

I think the whole "Queen is a singles band" is a meme, some of their best stuff is the songs people don't really know
