Artists whose first records are considered the most critically acclaimed, regardless of how good their other material is also.

Sure thing, i like slayer but have only really digested reign in blood and passively heard some of seasons in the abyss one time.
Comus
Pavement

i give this meme a 7/10
Could have done so much more. Oh, well. Que sera, sera.
>>72627620
You gotta try their other stuff sometime, it's absolutely amazing. Pic related is pretty good for when you're first trying to explore more of Slayer's discography. Everything they did up until the late 90s is completely essential, and even then they were still pretty good after that.
>>72627680
Sweet. Well I'll come back to them once i cut down on this backlog i've youtube-collected for myself.
Pioneered several genres all by one man in his garage by himself and it still sounds awesome to this day.
>>72627769
Also, after having listened to all Slayer's albums many times, I've come to the conclusion that Reign in Blood while being a 10/10 album, isn't even in their top 5 best albums, so you have some great stuff to look forward to if you end up really getting into them.
>>72628000
That's some love. I don't know if i'll share that view but it's interesting to see something outside the mainstream view. Thanks for the slayer!
>>72628105
No problem, I hope you enjoy them! Just remember that if you don't entirely appreciate them at first, you've gotta give them repeated listens over time, I promise you won't regret it. Pic related took me a good year to get into but now it's definitely one of my top 3.
>>72627184
they literally nullified their entire career afterwards with the first 30 seconds of schizoid man
>>72628223
I try my best to grasp things in one now that i've shamed myself for not noticing things that seem obvious to me on relistening but something always eludes the senses... damned mortality! hahahah
>>72628254
Nah, its the crazy vicissitudes of the song and then returning to that awesome riff that makes that song, even though the whole kinda megaphone crazy guy shouting thing is amazing you are right. Thinking about it its pretty strange how different their later albums are compared with schiz dude. Good artists with big creative minds

Poseidon is literally ITCoCK 2.0
>>72628422
Oh, have only listened to Red and Discipline otherwise. That sounds pretty exciting, have to get on that.

>>72628582
Later, I need to sleep, it's Britain time and I have ambient to put on to whisk me lightly to dream.
>>72628720

>>72628720
You can kinda sleep to Larks Tongues part 1

>>72629144
Are we listening to the same song? Maybe the latter sections but the middle it's definitely not material to sleep to.
>>72627265
Isn't Deserters Songs their most acclaimed apart from Scaruffi?
>>72627505
Agreed.
>>72627346
Agreed
>>72627750
I only enjoy the more popular ones from this. THe other songs haven't really captured my attention.
>>72629008
okay
>>72629762
Deserter's Songs is the most popular I think
>>72628518
You are correct on all counts
>>72629008
A lot of people like either WL/WH or TVU better, but this one's definitely more acclaimed.
>>72627505
By a long shot. Do you count their EP as a debut though? It's like 30+ minutes.
obvious choice
>>72628518
Are you literally so autistic you can't understand the obvious irony.
>>72630648
One of the few examples ITT where it's also the best album by its respective artist. His entire career after this feels like a bunch of failed attempts at emulating the excellence of this album. Hergest Ridge is the only one that even comes close.

The Doors one

True. Strange Days is better though
Imagine that your debut album becomes a hit so big that becomes a joke.

Technically this is Kanye's debut, new Kanye that is.
After his mother's death, Kanye released his last album 808s & Heartbreak, that was his suicide letter.
MBDTF forward is not the Kanye we once knew.
>>72631358
god damn it ya beat me to it...
I guess I'll put Buckely down
