Do you want hindustani such as your pic? There really isn't much recording done pre-war (I'm guessing you mean ww2) and the recording that happened was mainly orchestrated by white anglo rich men who tried to either document it or profit from it so their personal preferences are involved in what you get to hear and what you don't get to hear

Sorry if this falls into the anglosphere, but this is a great comp that people should check out if they are into American folk and blues. Alan Lomax and his dad are some of the most important people in music for preserving this stuff.
