I don't think it's quite as spiritual and mystical as people would have you believe.
Once you realize that melody, verse, chorus, rhyme, and all "pleasant" sounds are only a fraction of the potential for sonic experience, you might stray into less traditional formats out of almost scientific interest.
Like, you're never going to whistle along to that kind of music, so don't go into it expecting to suddenly "get it" like you would learn to love a pop album.
