Im convinced everyone thats shitting (barring the LE JEWS conspiracy faggots) on these songs werent LCD Soundsystem fans to begin with or are blinded by hype.

There are 3 types of songs James Murphy puts out:

1) Guitar anthem, "rock" songs that drag on too long.

2) Melancholy, self-loathing ballads

3)Punk-inspired, DJ/Dance songs.

We've got #1 and #2 here. #1s (Call the Police) are always pretty meh, but solid album material and #2s (American Dream) can be pretty hit or miss, but contain some of best lyrics ever written and are usually the highlights of the album.

#3s are the ones people were hoping for and where LCD hits their stride.

These are solid tracks that are par the course for LCD. I don't see any reason for fans to be upset; these tracks will definitely be elevated in context of the album.

That said, the lo-fi mixing is a little off putting. I'm cautiously optimistic.

James Murphy and the LCD Soundsystems got pretty big relatively quickly. (Not really tho, because he DJed for like 10 years) after putting a successful hit.

James just had the right connections (who had the right money) and was able to get his first LP some decent traction. While, in all actuality, theres nothing inherently wrong with this, there is some bitter party that for some reason thinks this discredits him.

Granted, James has historically played pretty coy about the whole thing, maintaining a public image of an "indie success story".
