Disagree strongly. U2 is an albums band - each has its own character. The singles don't necessarily sound great next to each other.
Can't go wrong with starting with their best studio records Joshua Tree or Achtung Baby, or starting with excellent live album Under a Blood Red Sky.

I agree with this. It's a perfect survey of their early post-punt material with all the hits of their pre-Joshua Tree days. Plus, it shows off their early intensity as a life band.
Sometimes I think this is my favorite U2 album.
