reminds me of an empty bliss beyond this world by the caretaker.
of what I've listened to so far, i would say that my favorite parts are the less dissonant tracks like "close to the end..." is really nice. it sounds like it could be a film score. you should hit up some indie filmmakers and see if they would use some of your music in their stuff. it also sounds a bit like the arcade fire soundtrack for Her.
my one piece of criticism is to make the titles of the tracks less explicit - it comes off as a little cringe-y (just my opinion - i know the titles probably mean a lot to you)
>>72561736
Hey, The Caretaker AND "Her"? Damn, I'm flattered! Thanks! I see why you might see these track titles as cringe-y, I'm certainty not the master title giver for sure but raw emotions are raw and changing them would feel like a betrayal of the harder times. None the less I hope that the next releases will be more though out in that department for sure. Thanks for listening and I hope you'll enjoy the rest (assuming you'll be still listening to this)

listened to the first bandcamp mainly, it grabbed me more. from the first track desu. the sample is perfect. god. this is some lonely music.
the song titles ARE a little pretentious but I don't really care. it's impressively heavy for ambient music. got halfway through track 4, I'll download it and listen to the whole thing
man why they keep replacing my words with desu I don't get 4chan
>>72561813
Aww, thanks for listening, I hope you'll enjoy the full listen!
Since I haven't listened to you yet I'll give you a quick shot and see how it sticks.
First of all - I have a bit of a problem with the mixing. Yeah, it is shoegaze for sure but I feel like most of what I have heard was recorded in a vacuum which I find totally annoying and distracting (then again I'm a Slowdive child so, you know). The songwriting feels well executed and it has a proper balance which is always welcomed. Finally somebody who does tracks longer than two minutes! A very good sign. I'm also not fan of the vocals. They should be a bit on front in my opinion. Also, you should work on your high singing notes - at times it feels like you have problem getting them out there, you know? The lyrics are fine as well but the problem with them is that the voice is so in the back (listening though speakers btw, not headphones) that I can't make of the words sometimes. So, to conclude, two major problems - mixing and singing. Obviously I shouldn't expect much in terms of the quality on these threads so I'm not too bothered but that's something I feel you should take a look while recording the next release. Keep it up!

Your best yet. Still listening to it to form a more nuanced opinion, but I've listened to it once and really digging it. Still though, I think your longest tracks would be better off being 6-7 minutes total each.

Okay, this is pretty decent, usually when I run into shoegaze on these threads I feel skeptical, but this is not bad at all. Vocals are a bit buried in the mix tho, but overall this seems like a nice start, just work on better mixing and mastering (coming from someone who doesn't really know how to do it, but I digress), the songs are there.

Btw, I see you live in Krakow, and I'm going there later this year. Anything there I should check out? Like a good area with pubs, clubs and whatnot or just historical sites or something.
>>72562212
Thanks for listening mate!
As for the sites - Wawel in the Old Town district, Kazimierz district (very beautiful, lots of pubs, clubs, some really nice architecture), take a little walk at Kosciószko Mound or any Mound in Kraków for that matter, shitton museums to choose from from historical to modern art. If you could get a chance to travel outside of Kraków - Wieliczka and Auschwitz is a great and important site to see. Oh, and if you need a guide or more info of some kind there hmu!
>>72562262
Cheers man! I'm coming there sometime late september, I'll get back to you when I know more!
Forgot to mention that I think the concept of your new album works really well.

I like this alot. Def a strong Jeff Rosenstock vibe. You're obviously a pretty adept song writer. I think your lyrics could stand to be a little more varied/unique. I think you hit some good point lyrically, but as a whole they could use maybe a little more work. Still, I think you're unique, bud. Keep it up.

>>72561893
Finished listening to the full thing. This is really, really great. Very personal. If I had to download one other album of yours, which would you recommend though? Don't want to download everything because desu you have a giant discography and ambient is something where I feel like I need to just lay everything else aside and sit down with it.
Thanks for the advice btw. I was going for a early Merchandise (like, strange songs in the dark) kinda mix for it - kinda the MBV side of the MBV-Slowdive spectrum - but I'm definitely thinking about making it less muddy next time around. Also wanting to have more harsh vocals.
And on the vocals, yeah, I know I have a pretty terrible voice lol. I'm practicing for sure, you think they should be closer to the front even though they're rough? Just to clarify
>>72562198
Thanks yo. Yeah, the vocals and mixing are the emerging theme here, I can't tell if it's just a shoegaze thing or if it's over the top for even shoegaze. I'll keep that in mind for the next thing I record though (eventually)
>>72562694
>https://scrugley.bandcamp.com/
Like this. This. This is what I need more of, exactly what I'm in the mood for (Transient Life at least). I kinda hate the drum sound though, mostly the hi-hat? It's just so grating, and not in a good way. Vocals and the rest of the mix is perfect though. Downloading.
>>72561646
Listened because of that guy who said it was Jeff Rosenstock-ish. Could've been a good or bad thing, and it's a good thing. I'm enjoying this a lot.

Thanks man, I dig your stuff as well, love it when it goes full on lo-fi!
>>72565293
Thank you for your really kind words sir! As to your question - it's a difficult one. "Removal" is pretty short also loop-based although it's quite different so I would suggest that. As of now I feel like you shouldn't listen to anything that was released before "The Raven" - these ones are quite bothersome (except maybe "Vivid Abstracts" if you like drone-y organ music). So go with "Removal" and see how it suits you!

hear you all the time in soundcloud threads, always really cool shit
>>72561646
good stuff, you have a really unique voice that sounds nice, although i think the production is a bit lacking, more songs like The Martyr Told Me and The Song would be interesting
>>72561813
shoegaze is a hard genre to get right sometimes, but you really pulled it off, loving the more acoustic/softer interludes and zzz. also liked the backwards number station sample on the 5th track lmao
>>72562048
really enjoying this one, almost like a dronier softer version of oversteps era autechre in a way, interesting style

really strange and interesting style, sometimes it feels drum and bass-y, idm ish, more traditional hip hop, and sometimes even sounds like angelo badalamenti decided to compose a hip hop album, really interesting

nice stuff, feels kind of like the lo-fi trend thats been going on recently but way more intricate and detailed
>>72568000
no idea what the hell those genres are supposed to mean, but some really good ambient work and instrumentals. your voice is pretty nice too, almost david gilmour-esque
>>72570731
some good ideas and nice textures, but I feel like there could be more to the tracks i guess, a lot of it felt a bit flat sound design wise, but good ideas nonetheless
sorry for making a giant post just felt like listenin to ppls stuff and giving feedback lmao
