first time i got into joy division, which was when i was 21. i knew it was better straight away. its a lot darker. the second half of the album is so fucking good in a dark Gothic way, you could hear his depression in the lyrics.

Decades is for me their best song after New Dawn Fades

I always thought closer was better. Closer is one of the best albums of all time and i wish it was discussed more. It should be /mu/core essential.

/mu/ doesn't need to talk about joy division. everything about them has already been said
The second Atrocity Exhibition started.

i feel like i know its better but it still hasn't clicked for me at all
i disagree
they're equally good, both 10/10 classics
buncha bitches
if closer could have had more stuff like "Atmosphere" it could have maybe been better than UP, but no. The lyrics might be better on Closer(?) but the guitar riffs will always be better than the synth stuff.
At what age did you realize An Ideal For Living is better than both?

the synths on decades are one of the crowning achievements of the human race you fucker

>"Mother I tried please believe me,
I'm doing the best that I can.
I'm ashamed of the things I've been put through,
I'm ashamed of the person I am."
Christ the fucking feels are off the charts with this album

They're both 10/10s and special in their own different ways. Unknown Pleasures was like a cry for help and Closer was the realization that help isn't coming.
