What does /mu/ think of Porcupine Tree?
I really, really, really like Last Chance To Evacuate Earth Before It Is Recycled
One of my all time favourite bands, can't wait for new Steven Wilson album

I used to really like them when I was in high school, but now the only album of theirs I've revisited and enjoyed was Lightbulb Sun. I think they're one of the only bands that I can truly say I've outgrown

I've always thought Lightbulb Sun was their best album, followed by Stupid Dream and In Absentia. That late 90s to early 2000s era in general was some of Steven Wilson's bets work.

Sounds like your taste got worse

is the lightbulb kid a good album?
Ruined by some of the worst lyrics I've ever heard/read
One of the best prog rock bands of all time.
Stupid Dream and Lightbulb Sun are legit masterpieces on the level of any GOAT Floyd or KC album.
3 of the 4 albums from their "prog metal" era are pretty damn good as well. (and the one you're thinking isn't? no, not that one.)

I love Steven Wilson but holy shit was his early Porcupine Tree stuff weird.
Porcupine Tree has made some of my most favourite songs, but I don't think they ever made an album I enjoy.

Yeah their albums are so fucking inconsistent it hurts. Each one has at least 3 songs I really like though
