Wow, really impressed by this.
Thoughts on this?
A solid 7 imo.

swervedriver is
not good
>>72529216
Post a download link boii
>>72529981
Why though?
I only had 3 listens of Raise so far and it sounds like pretty solid alt-gaze.
>>72530315
the riffs just clash with the atmosphere
kind of true for pretty much all alt-gaze
>>72531048
also swervedriver is borderline buttrock

Why aren't we talking about this?
what's up with pic related and their style change? from blackgaze to slide guitar? i don't even mind some of it, i mean i like mazzy star as well.. but why release it under the ambersmoke moniker?
>>72534295
Unique, but I didn't think it was that good.

Anyone got this album??
been looking for it online with no luck
>>72534666
Went from a solo project (the guy was a member of Airs) to a two-piece during the album before that one. On it you can her the noisegaze get turned way down.
Not crazy about their new sound though. Their old albums were awesomely gloomy and depressive, a lot of the integration of trip-hop on the new stuff sounds super amateurish and weird.
im gonna nap rn but everyone should listen to windy & carl bc they make really pretty music

new ride track boys
>it gets better after the intro I swear
>>72534962
Unique is a big deal for me, Not Alone is probably the strongest song on that album, the rest are good but nothing fancy.
>>72526904
Anyone else have thoughts on this?
I can't get enough of the first five tracks but I don't think Side B is for me. I guess the complete shift in tone is intentional, but for me it doesn't work.
Thank me later

Any of you getting out of your house to go see Slowdive? Going to see them tomorrow, excited but anxious to see what kind of crowd shows up
>>72539617
the closest show to me is FYF fest and I'm not really down to go to a festival to see one band
shoegaze is the impressionism of music
>>72539617
Yee yee
Not even mad I'm going alone. When I'm seeing my absolute favorite bands I actually prefer being by myself so I can fully immerse myself in the music
and maybe cry
>>72539854
Eh, impressionist art basically is a rejection of academic art that tries to be perfectly painted with classical subjects like gods and whatnot. Impressionism on the other hand paints modern life and tries to depict as much of a scene as possible by capturing as little of it as possible. So you get murky lighting and large brushstrokes, or unusual subject material painted at weird angles, like for an example a ballet stage where you see other dancers waiting backstage or people at a bar drinking absinthe.
The impressionism of music is certainly Debussy, or at least that's the label that will most likely be ingrained into the public consciousness. He hated the term though, probably because not all of his music attempts to capture a scene without really capturing the scene. But even then, his Three Nocturnes do exactly that and I would consider Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun and Estampes to be impressionist in a way as well.
The point is, impressionism isn't just about looking hazy so I find it hard to consider shoegaze and dream pop to be impressionist because those genres really aren't about conveying a scene through the haziness (though I'm sure some do but I can't think of one right now).
sorry for autisming out

anyone have this album uploaded?

Same, that festival is shit desu
so this is like vaporwave, right?
How's this look?
this is great, thanks to whomever mentioned them last thread or so
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQZrPZTCb6o
>>72534295
Thought it was pretty solid ambient-ish dream-pop, but it didn't blow my hair back or nothing. Might give it another listen soon.
>>72540238
Alright so how about the abstract expressionism of music?
>>72540466
It definitely has those chopped+screwed lo-fi sounds in common with it.
>>72538964
great album
>>72539617
I would have to go a long ways but it might be worth it.
Stoked for the new album though.

>>72542144
dreamy to the point of actually making me sleepy when listening to it, not really a good thing but also not a bad thing
>>72543557
shugazi's probably the only place here on /mu/ where people have talked about falling asleep to albums fondly.
>>72526904
This Fog Lake thing is really fucking good.
So last thread you guys wanted to add Horte's s/t and the new Heretoir album.
What albums on here should be replaced?
What releases really aren't good that are on right here now?
>>72546737
damn this lazy legs sounds like the ecstacy of st theresa
>>72540466
It's like hypnagogic dream-chillwave
>>72541076
I'd argue that abstract expressionism would be some sort of freeform noise or ambient "soundscape" music, since it completely rejects musical structure and convention, like AE rejects traditional "subject" in favor of focusing on pure aesthetics
>>72546943
actually not wrong
>>72540466
Every time this album ends I feel like I didn't even really listen to it.
>>72547708
Only song I can recall is To Be Fair but only cause that's the one I wasn't into.
>>72546737
definitely keep all the higher profile releases on there

Disintegration turns 28 years old today. Back then, I wasn’t the music obsessed weirdo that I am today - but then again, i was but a child. That being said, i was lucky enough to have older siblings who left cool shit lying around for me to pick up and call my own, which would ultimately help mold me into the music lover that I am at this moment. Back then, it was the just the tape with “Love Song” on it, that my brother left behind as he left home to discover his path. Later it would be a starting point to seek out similar sounds. Even later, it would become the anchor of many conversations about what a perfect album sounds and feels like. Today, it’s just an old hoodie that I never get tired of wearing. A dark, yet warm blanket that reminds me of home. And as always, it’s a towering work of beauty that shows little sign of age, and still, hits like a freight train if you’re willing to let it wash over you one more time. The singles are flawless, but the title track stands as one of my favorite songs of all time. Disarmingly lovely and haunting in equal parts. A high water mark of a band overflowing with mountainous peaks.

Hey I've been looking for this Finnish shoegaze/post rock-band's album that came out earlier this year. Can't remember the name of the band nor the record (I think it was maybe self-titled?) The cover was blue I think. A Finnish music magazine (maybe Soundi) posted it in their site, you could listen to it there.
It was also posted here a few threads ago. If someone could post it here it would be nice :33

How many songs off the new album did they play? I like it but I don't want it to eat into the classics too much when I see them Sunday.
Let's see those collections, /shugazi/
Swirlies, FSA, and lovesliescrushing are all reissues
New Slowdive just arrived, it's mixed relatively quietly which honestly helps the dynamics a good bit
>>72563610
If you're looking for "musical value" in idol music you're looking in the wrong place
>>72563610
I agree tbqh, although the music is bland either way.
The dancing isn't even good, why would they ruin an ok song with cringy dancing, fucking japs ree
>>72526904
I once posted this in a music sharing group I'm in with some friends and two asked me if I was depressed later that day
Here's one definitely worth checking out. More along the upbeat side of dream pop/folk, from the olden days of /mu/.
