>This old article by Piero Scaruffi has won several international awards as the most professional analysis of the career of pop group the Beatles ever written.
What such awards exist?
The 1998 His Ass™ Awards

>Extended note from 2010. The Beatles were not a terribly interesting band, but their fans were and still are an interesting phenomenon. I can only name religious fundamentalists as annoying (and as threatening) as Beatles fans, and as persevering in sabotaging anyone who dares express an alternate opinion of their faith. They have turned me into some kind of Internet celebrity not because of the 6,000 bios that i have written, not because of the 800-page book that i published, not because of the 30 years of cultural events that i organized, but simply because i downplayed the artistic merits of the Beatles, an action that they consider as disgraceful as the 2001 terrorist attacks.
poor piero knows he's just a meme
If it's true I'm amazed anyone would give him an award for such a thing in space of pop-music academia
I bet it isn't and he's just fucking with everyone though lol
>Scaruffi has introduced me to dozens of great artists I otherwise would have never heard of
>all people ever talk about in relation to him are Beatles, Bowie and Radiohead
his site completely backfired

It's not his fault all the people on this board and to an extent, the internet are retarded

The people who complain about his Beatles and Radiohead pages aren't his regular viewers. There are entire communities' worth of people influenced by Pierro's lists around the Internet (especially on RYM) but for every one person who enjoys his vetting I imagine there are several who got the Radiohead or Beatles page and just gave up.
A personal anecdote for you is how his lists introduced me to Third Ear Band, an amazing group who I never would have found any other way. Other performers like Soft Machine, Minutemen, Faust, Neu! , & Robert Wyatt's solo work came from reading his lists.
You might not agree with his taste or influence but I find him to be an important voice for many modern music fans.

His site is good to find music, but most of his reviews are plain contrarianism or trying to make the album a 7 song EP.

As said above you, piero knows he's a meme. He only started this website as a personal memory aide and now people either think he's a god or the worst person ever. Nevertheless, he gives zero shits and spends most of his time teaching or traveling the world.

>there are people who unironically think buttmetal and circuscore are better than influential artists like Bowie and Beatles
Thanks Scaruffi

The fact that so many books still name 9/11 as "the worst or most disastrous or most disgraceful" terrorist attack ever only tells you how far terrorism still is from becoming a serious art.
