any jazz drummer

He's actually overrated though. People have felt sorry for him ever since the Beatles started for being the least talented member so theres always these articles about him being the hidden genius of the band or whatever despite only having the skills of someone whos been drumming for less than a year, plus a few unique quirks that any consistent player would develop

I agree that for the last few years he's been getting his dick sucked by revisionists. But his fills on A Day in the Life are insane.

more like
t. not a musician
anyone who's played guitar/bass/keys in a band ever knows that reserved ringo-types are to be treasured because there are so many faggy drummers who think they are the center of attention

All of his fills were insane, he popularized that style

I'm not a drummer but I am a musician with an understanding of rhythm. Sure, the fills in Rain are one of his finest moments and the drum solo in The End is very mature and lyrical, but there aren't too many other moments from Beatles songs where he is really doing anything challenging or innovative. I guess the drum beat in Tomorrow Never Knows is also good/stands out

Orri Pall Dyrason of Sigur Ros. Unlike everyone else posted in this thread who each have high amounts of critical acclaim, he is actually underrated.
