use digital flacs instead you hipster

Just use 320 or FLAC if you have bat-ears, you monumental sack-emptier.
its not about that, not to mention what would I do with my bins of great records

Sell them for lots of money to (more) gullible wankers.
id have to get all new music in a new format when i already physically have all of it, it just does not make sense in my situation

Then enjoy your magic discs...
OP, you re better off looking at a turntable-focused site rather than /mu/ for advice on that stuff. I don't have one to recommend because my basic AT hasn't given me any trouble yet, but even sites like Vinyl Collective have a tech section for repair advice. All you will find on /mu/ is a bunch of clueless 19-year-olds who think there's only one way to listen to music and think Kendrick Lamar is the best thing to happen to music.
You probably pushed a mechanical lever out of whack. Usually a pretty easy fix. Download the manual from VinylEngine if you don't already have it. Also, Reddit has a good board for turntables. No joke.
