Where do you tell people you discover music from so you don't look like a pleb critic drone?
Me, I say I have friends who work at a record store and they're super knowledgeable about obscure music and new releases. It has the added bonus of making me look more social too.

I tell them a combination of the internet, radio, and friends because that's the truth and I'm not paranoid enough to think people would judge me for that.

I just discover it myself or get recommendations from friends. I have a genuine disgust for "critic drones" as you call them.
