Ascension was incredible in my opinion, maybe it's my Vince Staples fandom but the lyrics were so out there (that Moses line is ridiculous).

If you liked the singles you'll probably like the album. And no, the bonus songs aren't Albarn centric at all save for Ticker Tape. He does get a few moments on the album but they're definitively few. Considering you've heard Busted and Blue you've probably heard half of his meaningful contributions to the album before even listening to it.

As one of my favorite bands im disappointed, I like maybe 6 songs out of 26

Charger into andromeda makes me like andromeda like waaaay more. Can't believe they got the p4k pan, I've never disagreed with those fucks more. This is a great album and stands among their other releases.

This feels like a collection of singles featuring Damon every few songs. It doesn't even have a noticeable instrumental style or sound that ties the whole album together like the horns in Plastic Beach or the heavy use of choruses in Demon Days. It shouldn't even be called a Gorillaz album.

I think there is a faint thread of continuity with Damon's instrumental style in that this is basically an album full of DAREs - club-ready electronica with some touches here and there to make it sound a bit more cartoonish than the norm. The same sort of wacky vibes that pervaded their first 2 albums are present here, and arguably even more so than on Plastic Beach. The problem, at least for me anyways, is that it's an album full of DAREs. That song was boring the first time and an album's worth of songs like it is hardly changing my opinion.
