>>
I love all of Rose Melberg's bands.

Twee thread? Heavenly got better with each release.
>>
>>72454480
go sailor is a bit samey but Rose's voice is so good i dont care
i prefer tiger trap though
>>72454588
i gotta listen to this, i really like atta girl
>>
too happy for me
>>
>>72454615
I think Rose's best work is in The Softies.
>>
I know the bass player Paul from this band and from the far more famous Crimpshrine (with Aaron Cometbus and Jeff Ott from Fifteen and briefly Tim Armstong from Op Ivy / Rancid and Jesse Michaels from Op Ivy). AMA.
>>
>>72454588
did i post this
operation heavenly is my favorite album of all time

>>72454615
tiger trap best rose
>>
>>72454936
is he as cute as rose?
>>
>>72454962
What's your favorite song from each Heavenly album?

>Cool Guitar Boy
>Sort of Mine
>Modestic
>Ben Sherman
>>
>>72454554
I'll upload it in a second
>>
>>72455080
>Shallow
>Starshy
>Itchy Chin
>Pet Monkey

also

>Hearts and Crosses

it's a shame that other than the field mice no one else on sarah records really lived up to the standard heavenly set
>>
>>72455099
+1 for Hearts and Crosses. Pet Monkey sounds a lot like a Beat Happening song. Hmm, I wonder why?
>>
>>72455233
for that matter, best from each beat happening album:

>I Spy
>Bewitched
>Cast a Shadow
>Cry For a Shadow
>Teenage Caveman

>Sea Hunt
>Sea Babies
>That rough version of Down at the Sea
>>
love it. good memories covering go sailor songs with my high school band
>>
Go sailor is good but tiger trap and heavenly are the best
Dressy bessy are really good too
>>
Sup tweebros, how's life? I haven't actually put on a twee album in forever, but I used to post in these threads all the time.

>>72454588
Hey, I always though that! Glad to see more people loving Operation Heavenly now.
>>
Is there such a thing as twee with male vocals?

>>72455343
they actually got less twee when the female vocalist/guitar player joined
>>
>>72455360
Oh of course, how could I forget the field mice.
Btw have you heard Trembling Blue Stars? Really good band featuring most of the field mice, not twee but more ambient/dreamy indie pop.
>>
>>72455454
they were recommended to me right as i stopped listening to twee as much as i used to, so i never got around to them
if i get a second twee phase they'll probably be the first group i check out
>>
>>72455271
>Down at the Sea
>Drive Car Girl
>Cast a Shadow (the cover by Cub is also really good)
>Left Behind
>Bury the Hammer

I don't know what those 3 are from.
>>
>>72455516
I said theyre not twee tho
>>
>>72455530
the first is from music to climb the apple tree by
the second is from their collab with screaming trees (and also music to climb the apple tree by)
the third is from the expanded version of their debut
i think you're right about bury the hammer, i don't know how i forgot it when making my list
>>
>>72455544
indie pop twee po[p same thing
>>
>>72455544
Bobby Wratten was never really all that twee in the first place. The British music press just kind of stuck that label to him and it's been this albatross on his neck his entire life.
>>
>>72455544
they'll never be able to escape the association in my mind though
where would you recommend i start with them
i think i should at least go through the rest of sarah's catalog, and i might as well check out trembling blue stars on the way
>>
>>72455576
i can't believe humblebee wasn't enough for him to shake the label tbqh

Does /twee/ like this?

YOU'RE A GLASS EYED TIGER
>>
>>72455587
I havent heard all their records, but i know "her handwriting" is very good and "lips that taste of tears" is a bit boring in comparison

Maybe in another timeline the Skywriting EP turned the Field Mice into Acid House / Madchester stars.

awesome, thanks familia
>>
>>72455704
Oh for sure. Not to diminish everything he's done since, but that's probably Wratten's masterpiece. The only bad thing about it is it marked the end of The Field Mice.

Post rare Amelia Fletchers

if i can find where i found it, i'll post it

I heard one of her solo tracks on youtube forever ago. It would have been cool if she made it big as a synthpop star or something, but I'm glad she reunited with Pete Momtchiloff and the rest to make a new band.
>>
>>72456144
i don't think there's anything she could have done solo that i would have preferred over heavenly
>>
>>72456159
It was a great band for sure. Shame Momtchiloff left after Marine Research. It's cool listening to the records and watching him grow into this great guitar player while Amelia writes better and better hooks.
