he says cringey, awful stuff. the rest of this guy's work is fucking hilarious. check out his music too for a good laugh

Billy Joel is much better than Bruce Hornsby
>>

Nah, this dude just doesn't know what he's talking about.

No one's saying that, retard.
>>

I don't fucking get it, it's like they're straight up lying cause they're not that into music at all
>>

>>
>>72436725
No one says keyboard isn't an instrument though. DAW isn't an instrument.
>>
>>72437131

how is there any difference between virtual keys and physical keys?
>>
>>72437095
I find that the phrase "i listen to everything" usually means "i listen to everything except for screaming shit. or anything that goes above 100 BPM. or anything that's not on the top 100s.".
>>
>>72437146
You don't "play" a DAW the way you play a keyboard. You can't "play" a DAW in real time. As far as I know, anyway.
>>
>>72437160

more like I listen to whatever is on the radio when I turn it on, i dont own any albums and my favorite song of all time changes every month.
>>
>>72436762
Who is Nirvana?
>>
>>72437172
Yes you can. Hook up a controller and you can trigger effects, samples and write automation in real time. All while playing a keyboard mapped to a virtual instrument.
>>
>>72437172

you're arranging notes and keys to make music, there's no difference.

Is the speed you play music suddenly the best indication of how talented you are? is dragonforce the best band of all time?
>>
>>72437227
>dragonforce is fast

Said no one ever.

I was just memeing when I said DAW wasn't an instrument. Though nothing ever worthwhile was made from it.
>>
>>72436725
stop posting the same exact thread

>>
>>72437256
Pretty much every album you've heard post-1990 has been recorded and mixed using a DAW you spastic.
>>
>>72437224
Then you're just back to playing a keyboard, though.
>>72437227
>you're arranging notes ant keys to make music
Yeah, but not in real time, if you're manually mapping MIDI.
>is the speed you play music suddenly the best indication of how talented you are?
Where the fuck did I even imply that? Can you even comprehend what you're reading?
>>
>>72437267
what a throwback. isnt he a chick now?
>>
>>72437256
>Said no one ever.

Fuck off you stupid reddit faggot.

>>72437227
>is dragonforce the best band of all time?

Weren't they always? Tf u on my dude.
>>
>>72437283
Did you deliberately ignore the first half of my post?
>>
>>72437300
No, I just thought it is redundant to make the same point two times in a post. Yes, when you hook a MIDI interface up to a DAW, you're playing an instrument. The fucking keyboard. Or the drums, or whatever you have plugged in. When you are using said DAW to
manually map MIDI, you're not.
>>
>>72437358

Unless you're playing something live in front of an audience, music is abstract and there's no such thing as "real time" How long it takes you to put together is of absolutely no consequence.

So if you're saying the only real music is live performance then I can see your point but you're not and you have no valid point.
>>
>>72437384
No, how you make the music is completely irrelevant to its status as "music".
An instrument, should be playable in real time for it to be classified as a musical instrument.
Mapping MIDI, then playing it back does not meet that criteria. I'm assuming you're deliberately missing my point here.
>>
>>72437437

Imposing abstract rules on instruments doesn't make you right, explain to me why an instrument needs to be "playable in real time" ? An instrument that produces music is a musical instrument, as I said, it's of absolutely no consequence what speed you play, unless you're performing for someone, and people play DAW in "real time" for people to watch/hear all the time even if you had a point, which you don't
>>
>Nine Inch Nails? You mean that edgy band?
>>
>>72437212
everyone knows like at least six of nirvana's most popular songs
>>
>>72437489
You don't seem to know what "real time" even means.
7/10, you had me there for a while.
>>
>>72437521
They're a shitty band, so no.
>>
>>72437523

Stop diverting and tell me objectively why an instrument has to be played in "real time"
>>
>>72437294
NO YOU SHUT THE FUCK UP DAD
>>
When mother fuckers call music haunting or call music that requires no skill good music.
>>
>>72437562
How can I do that when you don't even understand the term "real time"?
It has to be playable in real time because...That's how a fucking instrument is played, motherfucker?
When you're mapping MIDI, you're making music, yes, the same way you put together guitar, bass and drum parts in a mix.
Does recording guitar, drums and bass, and then mixing it, classify as playing an instrument?
>>
>>72437540
I know but everyone still knows songs like Smells Like Teen Spirit, Come as You Are, Lithium, Rape Me, Dumb, All Apologies, and maybe others
>>
>>72437570
Music that requires "no skill" is usually the best music.
>>
>>72437570
>music that requires no skill good music.
IE anything othwer than classical music
>>
>>72437637
I know Smells Like Teen Spirit and Lithium. I don't like them overall, but Lithium's actually a good song, I think.
>>
>>72437639

I mean yeah old school punk and some pop punk yeah. But that out of tune twee pop shit has got to go.
>>
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n9sRyBMjtjo
everything
>>
>>72437658
If you listened to the other songs I mentioned you'd probalby recognize them from like the radio or TV or wherever
>>
>>72437626

Lol now you're just repeating what you said (which made no sense in the first place) and throwing in a few ad hominem, you know damn well you're full of shit and there's no point to be had here.
>>
>>72436725

"noise music actually is music"
>>
>>72437655
Yes and no. There is classical music that is very simplistic in nature, but still requires more skill in terms of playing correctly, being 100% on time, keeping tempo, etc, because it's played in a huge fucking orchestra.

The music you can make the "skill requirement" argument for now, is usually music that is technically advanced, like certain genres of metal, where the intricate phrasing and tempo alone just makes it harder to play overall.
>>
>>72437707
it's more like sound art honestly
>>
>>72437663
Yeah, that's shit, and should be punished with life in prison.
>>
>>72437707 noise music is for dumb hipsters who have republicans for dads and are still trying to find themselves through trigger warnings and changing their gender identity everyday and pretending they have no sex drive while spreading STDs to other people in diy basements.
>>
>>72437717
the most technically advanced contemporary music is contemporary classical
>>
>>72437681
Nah, you just got fucked, that's what happened.
>>
>>72437738
No. I don't see how you've come to that conclusion.
>>

Calm down, it's just an irrational emotional response to the realization that you didn't have an argument because your reading comprehension is equal to that of a retarded 4 year-old.
>>
>>72437776
I'm not getting technically advanced from this.
Also, it sounds like a MIDI sampler that shit itself, what the fuck?
>>

>>
>>72437843
Did you even look at the time signatures? Come on
>>
>>72437864
Time signatures alone do not make it technically advanced.
>>
I was genuinely interested in what people had to say on this thread, then when I clicked on it it was just some fucking idiotic argument between two fucking idiots, like every other post on this website. "Did you even read my last post?" "Are you fucking autistic?" blah bla-bladi-blah. Jesus fuck, no wonder I stopped visiting mu/4chan on a regular basis. You're all just so annoying.
Here I am, complaining about the problem, not doing anything to add to the conversation. I dislike when people say "people have always said popular music sucks." It might be true, but they've always been right for the most part.

No that's the fact that it features extremely complex sonic elements evolving over time

I love NIN, but certain albums are really edgy

In a good way, in an exciting way
>>
I have a faggot boyfriend who keeps critizing my taste for music while all he does is listen to My Little Pony fan music videos and songs YouTube personalities use (He listens to "Born Different" just because Jim Sterling uses it), he hates my music and keeps mocking me about it.

So I untetionally blast it whenever he is near me, he does that to me with his music anyway so I think it's fair.
>>
>>72438483
Your friend sounds like fucking cancer.
>>
>>72438500
Oh kek, I just refered to him as my "boyfriend", goddamn I'm tired.

It gets worse, the stuff I listen to isn't even that /mu/-tier, I'd say it is pretty accesible. He has called David Bowie a "no one" (he doesn't know who he really is).
Unronically still likes Gangam Style and Toki Hotel

At this point, I don't even play or talk about my songs, even though I am deeply passionate about them, yet he still for some reason shits on it. Yet he keeps going and ging about his songs and stuff he likes.
>>
>>72436794
I'm triggered.

So am I, because I didn't even catch that. Lol

I read "friend" for some reason.

>It gets worse, the stuff I listen to isn't even that /mu/-tier, I'd say it is pretty accesible. He has called David Bowie a "no one" (he doesn't know who he really is).
Damn, man. Your friend sounds like an insufferable little faggot with shit taste. Sounds like he probably browses /v/ or /mlp/.
>>
>>72436725

And why does this statement piss you off ?
You dont have to feel inferior if you spent years learning the ableton pad. Everyone likes the ableton pad. You can make good youtube videos with it :)
