There are actually three or four versions if you're just talking about cover photos.

Otherwise, you probably mean the LP recording and the CD recording. The former is the original recording - as a result, it's a little rougher and doesn't contain "Providence". The CD version seems more common online. It's more polished and has some slight variations (along with the track "Providence").

Listen to both and see which one you like the best. The LP version, when played on a turntable, has an infinite loop at the end of side B that sounds pretty cool.

It's never sounded cool to me. It sounds like they ran out of space on the album and decided to just give up.

There's either one or two little minute long tracks that only appear on the LP.

CD version and/or lossless version on good speakers. Vinyl version works depending on your setup and has some neat tricks as you work through the album alongside the packaging (original is more oblique, but seeing as how your picture is of the new one I'd wait until all sides have spun until you go through the artwork).

Tape is bootleg and usually in the wrong order, but godspeed are universal enough that vinyl bootlegs are decent enough.

As someone who has recorded for both LP and CDs I'll say that if you want to put something on an LP you have to trim down material to fit the runtime. It has nothing to do with Efrim being a "jew."

The LP version is the curtailed version of the CD version because LPs can only fit about 22 minutes per side.

If you make an album intended to be pressed on an LP you should definitely keep that runtime in mind.
