For example in all the Steven Wilson interviews' (in the picture) he says something significant/profound (for example his separation between "artist" and "entertainer") and doesn't go superficially in any subject; I've learned a lot reading him. Other interesting guys are Devin Townsend, Paul Masvidal, and I readed that Frank Zappa, although I'm not familiar with him.

smart in what sense though? in an academic or more pragmatic sense?? if its the former, john maus is a fun listen on politics and philosophy. he goes off on tangents sometimes though.
