what are the most important things to do to maintain a drum kit?
Damn..
>>72426287
there's not much to it. if you have really wonky technique you might end up damaging the hoops and lugs after years of abuse. whenever i swap heads I wipe down all of the shell, make sure no stick shavings stick around etc.
here's my kit. it's alright. i want a george h. way set so fucking bad and some 602's but i'm poor. thinking about putting some fiberskyns on my kit

gear is:
Keller maple shells I finished.
Some Tama hardware I got with a Swingstar.
14" New Beat hi-hats
22" Zildjian cymbal that's from the early 60's
20" Paiste Giant Beat Multi
and I use Vater Power 3A's because it's fun playing quiet with big sticks.
Buying my first drumset today, what should i look for?
>>72426649
what's your budget.
If there's anything I'd tell new drummers it's quality over quantity. A single 20" crash/ride that sounds good and some nice hi-hats are infinitely better in my opinion than getting a bunch of garbage starter cymbals.
as far as a kit goes, the best lower end kits I've seen are definitely Gretsch and Tama. I'm not really a fan of their high end stuff but they knock it out of the park in the beginner-intermediate market.

Check craigs, 400 can get you some nice drums, maybe 100-150 for hats and 100 for a crash, 100 for a decent ride.
What basic rudiments are the hardest for everyone?
>Double strokes are a struggle for me, my right stick always moves up my hand until it just falls. Paradiddles took a lot of practice but I've gotten pretty solid at em.
>>72427016
Yeah, paradiddles took me a while to get
stick control is really helpful for that

What's your best bpm? I just started drumming back in January so i'm pretty low at like 160-180.
This is my current set up but I'm planning on moving to a Gretsch New Classic Bop kit or some vintage Ludwigs soon.
