I love Tom Delonge's singing accent/style. I only really ever got into Dude Ranch and Enema of the State though.

Whatever they do to his voice on Enema of the State and Take Off Your Pants and Jacket sounds fucking awesome. Has a quality similar to double tracking, not sure what it is though. Looked into it before and couldn't find satisfactory answers or anyone really knowing what I meant. I'm by no means familiar with vocal recording or studio techniques btw.

Check out how it sounds when he says the syllable "mis-" in "misled" at 0:57. Sounds like two tones, slightly out of tune from each other, then back to normal, which also has a very full sound, reminiscent of double tracking. You can find examples of this on most of their stuff from this era.

Here's a (terrible) example of something else neat I hear them do. When he says "there" in "challenge me then and there to a drag" around 0:35, it sounds like there's autotune changing his half-note slide into an instantaneous change. Happens again seconds later on the word "buddy".

POP PUNBK GENERAL

There really is some good stuff in this style and I think it's underrated by a lot of people. Most of the best bands in my opinion are a little like the duderanch kind of blink, like the Starting Line, NFG, Relient K and Saves the Day.

That was when mark learned about double tracking and doing 20 harmonies like the beach boys did in pet sounds.

Tom is always tom tomt tom tomt tom. and mark is always mark tom tom tomt tom vocal parts.

Unfortunatly tom doesn't do harmonies as well on his own and AVA never really captured that sound.

Just because something is newer than the 70s doesn't mean it's pop punk. I don't want this to evolve into a shit show but does decent quality recording plus vocalist who can hit notes make something not real punk or something

These guys aren't even comparable with All Time Low. They shouldn't be lumped together
