>>72404530
Not really, no.
Funk isnt really an album genre so /mu/ tends to frown on it
>>72404530
I much prefer Funkadelic but I haven't listened to the later Parliament stuff
I gots DA FONK brotha....Eva since da P FUNK CREW..... GRACED my life back IN THE 70S....i've been a FUNKATEER...the bigger THE HEADACHE the bigger THE PILL...rip Eddie hazel, Tiki fullwood, Glen goins, Garry shrider
i'm more of a soul/r&b kind of guy myself. but I likes me some funk every now and then.
>>72404530
no, but we gotta get that funk
>>72404530
Parliament, Funkadelic, the list goes on...
>>72404530
/mu/ definitely does not have the funk
Besides Maggot Brain the only time /mu/ ever pretends to care about funk is to insult people for liking that one Childish Gambino album.

this street songs and bustin out of L seven are all great.
Been playing all day actually
>>72405882
No. I saw the name and immediately thought "I bet these guys just play endless pentatonic riffs and jump around acting like there's actual fire shooting from their horns". I'm checking out their available tracks on Bandcamp and it seems I was right. Are these studio recordings? Then they need to quit shouting "WOO" and "YEAH" at each other the whole time. I get that this music is great fun to play, but have some goddamn discipline. I want to listen to songs, not a musical circlejerk. Shit, I'm angry.
is bootsy really an alien?

hell yeah, he's great

Brass band music has always been party music intended for dancing/getting hype. It's not supposed to be immaculately produced with a high concept or experimental use of non-western scales or whatever. If you want more refined funk there are lots of bands you can look up on any music review website. However brass bands like the Hot 8 do a great job of playing danceable and catchy rhythms/riffs in the traditional new orleans style

Has anyone listened to the Meters or, at least, a late 60s/early 70s James Brown album?
>>72406618
Yep, no one here has ever listened to one of the most famous black musicians of the 60s and 70s, just you.
is sly family funk?
>>72406720
Are you not familiar with /mu/? It's great that you've probably listened to a James Brown album but I guarantee maybe only like 2-3 other people who read this thread actually have as well
>>72406874
Yes

And so are Talking Heads, which /mu/ likes.
they say "the bigger the headache, the bigger the pill."
