I feel similarly, though I still think his stories are interesting and entertaining for the first listen or so. Musically there's just nothing much going on and I can't see it having much relisten value, factor in the length and you get a pretty niche album.

I thought "You Want It Darker" was pretty good, and I really liked the two good tracks off of "Awaken, My Love" but the modern music I tend to like a lot is usually electronic or tech house.

And while I like a lot of that stuff, and find it pleasant to listen to, to find something I truly find excellent I'd have to go back to Amnesiac (2009). Which I guess is pretty hipstery itself.

i've been super into the new Actress, Gas, Oso Oso.

Japandroids hits the spot every now and then but the album they came out with is mad cornier than usual and should be twice the length for the concept they went for/the stage they are at in their career

New cloud nothings at first listen i thought was gonna be my AOTY but i havent had an album get worse with more listens like that in a while. has some amazing songs though
