Sublime and No Doubt if they count. I'm assuming ska punk just means third wave.

Streetlight Manifesto, Less Than Jake, Big D and the Kid's Table, The Specials, Madness, Reel Big Fish, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, and sometimes Rancid.

Streetlight are definitely my favorite, I saw them live in Salt Lake around 2013 and it was fucking awesome. Got a t-shirt signed by the bari player, pretty sure his name is Matt.

Holy fuck I haven't seen Laurel Aitken's name in years. Around 2011ish when I stopped listening to ska there seemed to be a movement in cali or around that state of skacore. They're legit a top 3 musical act ever for me. They're dismissed by a lot of snobs here but if you actually sat down and listened to their music you'd see how excellent they were as musicians. They are also similar to Nirvana in that it was a 3 man band that made a ton of noise and the frontman was woefully depressed and died during the height of their band's power. I seriously don't know why they never caught on here.

I've never heard another band EXACTLY like Sublime but this thread has some stuff in their genre. They drew on a lot of hardcore punk influences from the 80s like Bad Brains and Minor Threat. Go ahead and download all of Sublime's albums. There aren't many because Bradley died right after their major label debut.

Bradley was a truly tragic figure. If you ever needed an example for why you shouldn't fuck with hard drugs, it's him. There is a lot of sadness underpinning songs that sound happy. I mean as good as their discog already is, they were JUST coming into their songwriting prime when he died. It's so sad thinking about the lost music. Nirvana too of course

LBDA are not "pretty similar," they're the same fucking band with a replacement singer.

I like Sublime a lot, but they're more of a ska and reggae band that did a punk song sometimes or switched into punk for a hook sometimes. and just a fusion of a lot of things, really. but, fuck it, that's nitpicking. OP still oughta listen to them, of course.

the only ska punk band that I think is great is OPIV. trad and first wave/rocksteady is really where it's at, to me.
