What's the deal with this band? All I know from them is goofy album covers and I never listen to them because the album covers are so goofy.

They're a pretty standard late 70's - 80's pop rock band. They kind of have silly personalities, so they've become a meme.

Their first album is one of the best ever. After that they changed up their sound quite a bit, but were still great. They make bizarre new wave/punk/electronic music. If you're into experimental music, check out Q: Are We Not Men A: We Are Devo+ the album Hardcore, which is a collection of all their early very experimental work. They were very much a performance art band. I love them,, they released some killer records and are a pretty unique and influential band.

What now. Devo was anything but standard. They were considered really fucking bizarre at the time. Their later albums were more poppy, but their first two albums were not at all.
