Albums with zero faults, beyond god tier
undebatable.
I had a dream last night where pet sounds was actually a really overrated piece of shit
>>72362271
Thankfully it isnt
I listen to this album too much
>>72362271
You're living in it
Miles Davis: Kind of blue.
>>72361798

Beyond god tier: the band.
>>72361798
Am i supposed to listen to SMiLE, Smiley Smile, or the Smile Sessions?
>>72363764
smile was never completed
smiley smile was an odd stripped-down record built from salvaged smile ideas and released in smile's place. some people like it
smile sessions is an official educated guess as to what smile could have been based on what documents exist from those sessions. there are many fan-made recreations as well
>>72363110
that's my only problem with the album
song kinda kills the vibe
minus that it's perfect
>>72363764
smile sessions blows everything else out of the water
sounds like pink floyd
yup
>>72362467
It's one of my favourite albums ever but there's some undeniable clunkers in the middle that keep it from "flawless" status. I'd even give RAM the edge in that respect.
>>72362567
top zez
>>72361798
im a /jazzfag/
Top 10 of all time
>>72362252
Mixing in cheesy garbage like Temporary Like Achilles and Pledging My Time with masterpieces such as Stuck Inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues Again ruins the album. Now Highway 61 Revisited is perfect and you'll realize that once you stop being a Dylan babby who's only been listening for a week (a week inwhich you posted this album in every god damn thread, kill yourself).
>>72368429
please stop
if you think Unknown Pleasures is better, you're wrong.

>>72369351
These. I'm not even a big fan of jazz but the execution on both Kind of Blue and A Love Supreme is damn near perfect, they really managed to capture something quite unique in the studio. On Loveless the songwriting is just top notch all the way and the production feels groundbreaking even today.
>>72368796
Objectively correct. Closer is superior.
>>72361798
Yes.
>>72363032
Nope. For it to be 'flawless' it'd have to look like this.
1 Long Promised Road
2 Disney Girls
3 Feel Flows
4 Lookin' at Tomorrow
5 A Day in the Life of a Tree
6 Til I Die
7 Surf's Up
But even then it'd be flawed by being too short.

>>72370448
Have A Cigar is quietly the strongest guitar solo that Gilmour ever did. So yeah, that would make it that much more flawless in my book.
>>72371085
Massively underrated album here on /mu/.
One of those rare albums where the non-singles absolutely obliterate the actual singles.
>>72374214
every solo from Animals is better, it's also a better album
>>72374303
Trying to choose between Animals and WYWH is like making a mother of fraternal twins choose which one is her favorite.
They're both such different albums, and they're both so amazing.
>>72374253
but it's full of skits and shit
honestly, I highly doubt there's a >45 minute flawless album
>>72361798
The album that cemented Karin Dreijer as the one true heir to Bjork. The high water mark for electronic albums, it honestly mops the floor with Homogenic, and I LOVE Homogenic, too.
>>72374541
But the instrumental bridge pieces are where the album really shines.
Listen to Fountains on a nice pair of headphones, it's like Vangelis 2.0.
Perfect length, nice unbroken mood and tone. Songwriting on point, no filler songs

Kid A (The Track) It's no very good
>>72375560
Sloop John B is a fine track but a sailing folk song is painfully out of place on Pet Sounds. The album would be more consistent without it so it can certainly be considered a flaw.
>>72375616
>painfully out of place on Pet Sounds
How so?
>>72371121
dream loss is better
>>72368841
correct
>>72375636
The album is mostly about love and finding your place in the world. Sloop doesn't fit into that theme at all. Not to mention that it's very different musically than any other song on the album.
hi 4chan, does DOOM piss you off?
>>72375665
>Sloop doesn't fit into that theme at all
How so? The protagonist is longing to find his place
>Not to mention that it's very different musically than any other song on the album.
How so? it has the same instrumentation
>>72374902

>not Q and A
No, it sounds nothing like the rest of the album. It sticks out like a sore thumb, which isn't surprising considering it was written 40 years before Pet Sounds. It's a good song and the Beach Boys did a great job with it but don't pretend that it fits in flawlessly.
>>72374637
>>72375011
I'm a huge Nick Drake fan. But he's right. If Know was a good song, this would be my favouite album ever. But it's not, it's filler. It's trash. Everything else on the album is minimum 9/10 but Know is like a 6.

>>72372250
That one song that shall not be mentioned. Also, lackluster in general
>>72372900
Nah
>>72374620

Your level of enjoyment really does depend on whether or not you like his vocals on contact.
>>72361798

Sloop John B, corny lyrics
>>72363623
Sue sounds like Bowie was singing the lyrics over a completely different tune but that song got canned and they just put the vocals over his band's drunken jam session
>>72368429
For Free is the second song on the album and makes you think that the rest of the album will have a sense of humor, but it doesn't. also weird fanboying over a murderer
>>72370299
the awkward and forced transition from Shine On Part 7 to Part 8 (i think)

Laughing stock. Man....you so won this thread. Perfect concept album. 10/10
>>72374637
I wish know was better, but it really is just filler...if it weren't for that this album would be perfect.
>>72376641
>hasn't listened to the SMiLE sessions
>>72380765
>Sue sounds like Bowie was singing the lyrics over a completely different tune but that song got canned and they just put the vocals over his band's drunken jam session
You are sorta correct... Sue was first recorded in 2014 with an orchestra... Bowie sang this version live in the studio with the band but had to redo the vocals later - partially because he was drowned out but also partially because he wanted to make the vocals sound more eery by slowing them down and adding a lot of echo and reverb
>>72377943
I'm glad someone posted this. Literally flawless.
>>72378483
The respective strengths of their entire catalogues aside, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, as a single album, is objectively stronger than any single album that Bowie ever released.
