>second wave post-hardcore
you fucking rocktards and your meaningless sub, sub, subgenres
>>72360329
What? Probably the best sounding record from the 80's aside from maybe Doolittle.
They avoided 1980's meme production and it has kept it sounding timeless.

>ill still always love Rival Schools tho
you kidding? they probably aged the worst out of any "emo" related band. they literally had bon jovi's producer do their album
>>72360352
Painfully true - thought that was incredible when it came out in 2001/2?
Sounds like a heated turd now
The Darkness - self-titled
That album went off like an overripe pear

>tfw love Mars Volta
>can't get into At The Drive-In
Help
>>72360309
hmm I still love this and their first album. everything in between is just meh for me now though.
>>72360409
You can't deny that the production on RoC makes it sound like some shitty Fall Out Boy song on some parts though

speaking of which i just read this on wikipedia
>Record producer Ross Robinson, who was credited for popularizing nu metal with bands like Korn, Slipknot, Soulfly and Limp Bizkit in the 1990s, helped post-hardcore achieve popularity during the 2000s.[80][81] Mehan Jayasuriya of PopMatters suggested that Robinson's sudden focus on post-hardcore was his "pet project" designed to redeem himself of "the 'Nu-Metal' scourge of the late '90s".[82]
So basically this fucker Ross was responsible for BOTH of the awful rock music genres of the 00s

nah im serious but it might be because i was 17 in 2001 and that album was a classic banger i would cruise around in my Honda CRX, willed to me by my uncle who died in 1999 (this was before F&F blew up so it wasnt as wack as now) and listen to it and internally sob because my parents thought i was the next columbine killer because i knew existence was a sham and something had to give. heh i still have that car, bone stock except the radio, sitting under a tarp in a shed at my grandparents house. maybe ill sell it, if i ever need a quick $1000.

Listened to it recently and thought it aged pretty gracefully desu. Their first album though, not so much.
OT: most 80's hip hop albums.
*Insert any synthpop record from 1986-1991*. Though the early 90's stuff at least has some goofy charm.
>>72360329
As someone who usually DESPISES 80's metal, no.
>>72360386
Better than almost any corporate rock that followed it.
like milk

The album is great, sans production. I like a lot of the ways the songs are structured, and the intentional dissonance between the melodies and rhythm. I think this album was actually ahead of it's time, however I think it ended up inspiring the math rock and post-punk crowd more than it could the punk and post-hardcore crowd.

I disagree with that but I do dislike the production on it. Way too "manufactured". In/Casino/Out had this very clean production that fitted the album nicely, and Acrobatic Tenement had a raw sound to it that worked with the new age post-rock clashing with 80s hardcore band style they had at the time. Vaya struck the best mix of the production with a clean, but slightly raw style production that I wish Relationship of Command had, specifically during the more dub/reggae parts of the album.
>>72360329
Doesn't really matter since it was awful buttrock to begin with.
>>72361677
Also should probably mention that Vaya is great and did not age poorly at all.
>>72360404
i was you about a year ago. listening to One Armed Scissor a thousand times helped ease me in...
>>72360309
your mom aged very poorly
RoC is 10/10
>>72360309
Listened to this a couple of months ago for the first time and it was great.
>>72360309
OP confirmed for poor taste. That album is easily a 9/10.
