This story will seem far-fetched, but it's true. You know lately I've been feeling like there's a huge disconnect within /mu/. Like it's weird for me getting on /mu/ and seeing threads about how Sade, James Brown, or Issac Hayes are underrated and I'm like...they are? When was this?

Then again, and I kinda hate to be this guy sometimes, I feel like it's because I'm black. In the black community they're regarded as masters of their respective genres, and always lauded.

Eh, we all grow up on different music and artists so that can also explain the disconnect sometimes.

I wouldn't go that far. people just use "underrated" interchangeably with "good." probably just because they want to feel special for holding opinions which are really not particularly unique. maybe they're just bad at expressing themselves, or in this case they listen to an older artist for the first time and confuse not being talked about every day any more with not being well-regarded
