Why does he get a lot of negative responses on /mu/?
Wanna play catch?

1. Because outside of his band work he's the quintessential dadrock blues guitarist, and /mu/ hates that
2. /mu/ is quite left-wing and that rant he did in the 70s offends them

On your head, son!

>implying all of /mu/ hates dadrock
>implying all of /mu/ is leftleaning
>implying all of /mu/ hates eric clapton
>implying any board on 4chan is a hivemind
did that not stop by 2008-2009?
dude my son lmao
He has some great work but lots of it is just plain 70s blues rock.

the younger people on here have an aversion to anything they perceive as dad rock. Once they grow up they realize why he's one of the goats. Normally his Cream or Derek and the Dominos gets them into him.

Nobody hates any of his pre-1975 stuff though, it's everything that came after that.

what is the distinction between 70's blues rock and blues rock from the '80s, '60s or '50s?
Backless [RSO, 1979]
Whatever Clapton isn't anymore--guitar genius, secret humanitarian, God--he remains king of the Tulsa sound, and here he contributes three new sleepy-time classics. All are listed on the front sticker and none were written by Bob Dylan. One more and this would be creditable. B-
Just One Night [RSO, 1980]
Who needs another live double? A master guitarist whose studio albums have been accused by Sominex of unfair trade practices, that's who. All your AM and FM favorites served up hot, cold, or both. B+
Behind the Sun [Duck, 1985]
Eric Clapton and Phil Collins are two individuals who can count themselves as survivors (Collins and how). Clapton was never the mediocre vocalist he's wont to declare himself in retiring moments. Trouble is, his style only worked when laid-back was commercial and here he's not retiring, he's looking for work. For a variety of reasons, including current fashion, Collins mixes the drums very high and then induces Clapton to, um, project. Painful. And bad. C-
Fucking racist cunt. We colonise and rob Asia and Africa for 150 years, and aid in the creation of Israhell and then can't understand why they're mad at the West and want to join jihadi organisations.

Because Jeff Beck shits on his talent
What's the difference between a baby an a bag of cocaine?
Eric Clapton wouldn't let a bag of cocaine fall out the window.
