Now that the dust has settled, can we all agree that this is the best post-AJFA Metallica album?
That isn't St. Anger

Guys, this is a SERIOUS thread for SERIOUS discussion

Literally every Metallica album post-AJFA is better than Death Magnetic
>>72347579
Sure but it's still hot garbage

Not memeing, St. Anger is very underrated.
Realistically:
Black Album>Load>St Anger>New One>ReLoad>DM

St. Anger has fantastic tracks, it's just the snare sound that's memed to death. It's a genuine fantastic album and the only one after AJFA I can even listen to.

There's not even one bad song on DM. If it were released in 1985 by some obscure thrash band, you guys would love it.
I really like Death Magnetic, and still listen to a few songs off of it. Suicide & Redemption is the best instrumental track they've done.
>>72348124
This. It's even better than Call of Kthulu
>>72348039
That drum sound, tho. I know they were aiming for that lo-fi garage band sound, but that was taking the piss.

Death Magnetic is better than St. Anger, anyone who says otherwise is trolling

No memorable ones, neither. And no, if it were released in 1985 by some obscure thrash band, I would have put it in the trash, next to the countless generic thrash albums made by obscure thrash bands.
DM was a halfassed project to return to their aggressive days, guitars are decent but not even close to their work in AJFA or Dave Mustaine stuff on the early albums, the melodic take comes off as generic, rather than interesting experiments like they did on The Black Album or Load. It doesn't help that the production is goddamn awful.
I mean, if you're a metalhead, I can see why you think DM is the best thing since AJFA, but in general, DM is the weakest work the band ever put.
