i can't stop obsessively swallowing air
my stomach and intestines are in constant pain

****New Rules:*****
1. /prod/ IS NOT YOUR SELF-ESTEEM SAFE SPACE. DO NOT COME HERE EXPLICITLY FOR "FEEDBACK" UNLESS IT DIRECTLY RELATES TO OR INTENDS TO BEGIN SPECIFIC /prod/ DIALOGUE.
Example of what not to do:
>new track I just finished, I'd love to hear some feedback on it
>how do I into git gud?
Instead:
>I can't figure out why my bass won't cut through the mix in this section (from 0:15-0:21) could someone please lend me some advice?
>My Korg keeps giving me these weird resonant peaks upon capture, here's a sample, and I attached a pic of the machine and wiring... any ideas?
Try to be more specific. This will keep the threads alive, and will help ween out the influx of new users who use this as a place to either self-promote or boost self-esteem.

2. If you do feel the need or are asked to post a sample of some work, please use clyp.it or some type of anonymous uploader. Please no soundcloud, bandcamp etc. nobody needs you to clutter the thread with self-advertisement. There are already threads for that, just use the catalog.

3. Ignore unrelated tangents, spammers, and tripcodes, unless under the exception that it is in some way helping the community as a whole.

These should be common sense if you frequent this general, but it's become apparent that these need to be stated more clearly.

Do I need studio monitors?
I have a good quality Sony home theatre system setup.
Is it ok if I just buy headphones, or should I rather get monitors?

I'm going to be away from my prod computer and so I was wondering, what /prod/ book can I read without having to do exercises or whatever, and still retain useful info? Long hours of train ride coming up..

Should I cut out some of the drastic changes in this song? I think it sounds good but is it just cheesy?

How about the start is it corny to have a tape sound at the start?

does anyone use old vsts, like not updated since 2005 and previous? i feel weird doing so but i know its silly to be that way

Yeah, the classic Voxengo Boogex. Much more satisfying sound than the new plugin and it's no longer available so it's like a secret weapon.
http://www107.zippyshare.com/v/QrZ8CeKD/file.html

Some of the MDA plugins are from 2004 and I use those a bit, dynamics and talkbox and ringmod and combo and de-ess and overdrive.

If FL Studio's stuff counts then 3xOsc, Fruity Flanger / Wave Shaper / Phaser / Reverb / Chorus / Fast Distortion.

Can't get an exact date on it but Atom Splitter Audio's Distroyr is at least from 2007. Can't check Archive.org since the placeholder website that took the domain won't allow crawlers and that seems to invalidate all older backups, or it just never allowed it. Better upload that one too then. http://www63.zippyshare.com/v/I82cCyv0/file.html

Not sure how old GTune is either but it's also at least 2007. Real useful for tuning samples and figuring out what note I'm hitting when I sing some melodies and basslines to recreate.

Used to use a crossover distortion plugin that was really old but it would crash if more than one was used. Emailed the developer but they couldn't find the source for it.

Any of you ever tried Philteroid? It's a recreation of the Sherman Filterbank.

WOK made an software version of a Palm Diffuser / Palme Diffuseur, which is basically a guitar body with 12 strings on the front and 12 in the back tuned to two chromatic octaves and the speaker vibrates the strings creating a sort of sympathetic resonance like a piano's body.

However its CPU usage is kind of high and I figure it can be done well enough with a convolution plugin so here's 96khz impulse responses of the palm diffuser with 3 different dampening settings.

>almost every day somebody posts a thing they are selling in the "wanted" category instead of the "offering" category
how do people fuck this up so consistently? it's so simple

I'll be back with feedback for everything that doesn't get noticed right away as usual <.<

Just looking for impressions on this- if it's something you can vibe with.

i'm putting out a quick mixtape soon and this is the only song i'm not completely sure about. Perc is clearly c/p, going to go in and put in more detail of course...

Go do some research, you should probably get monitors.
