Got a good copy of Aladdin Sane on vinyl yesterday. It's very much a product of the music of that time, but still really good in its own right.

The piano on the title track just kind of runs off on its own at a certain point, where it's hard to believe it's still playing along with the rest of the song. Really grabbed my attention.

I'm literally a Bowie noob, I know Fame, have it as a single on vinyl, and have heard Black Star and Aladdin Insane and little else. Oh, and Labyrinth.

That was earnestly one of the hardest things for me to deal with when he died. The idea that one of my heroes died and went to hell. He was always all over the place with the Gnostic stuff and its symbols. I don't know what religion he was on by the time he died, but it somehow presented in my head.

This post is unimaginably sad. Not because I'm concerned with Bowie's post mortem fate but it's such a cryptic reminder of how religion affects others perspectives. I've been fortunate enough to come to the conclusion that such a fate as eternal damnation is negligently improbable, but the turmoil it causes to come to that other conclusion, that your loved ones and idols and anyone you ever cared about could exist in hell for eternity, it would honestly break me.

whenever i see any post-90s interviews with him he's like the definition of how to age gracefully. wise, funny, charismatic, still good looking. like he managed to get past all the drugs and hedonism and midlife crises and came out the other side perfect.
