Why is the word "hail" so widespread within the Black Metal scene? The artists, the fans, they all use "hail" even when they salute each other.

It's connotation with the occult and neo-paganism.

It's an archaic greeting as far as I have read; yes, it has a religious connotation or an awe related feeling, such as hailing the chieftain, king, whatever; but they are already boring.
As a black metal listener, I stumble upon the fans daily on the internet, they go as phony as adding words before "hails", such as "infernal" or "eternal".
Pic related is the definition of the tryhard.

Yeah, it's mostly tryhard teenagers searching for acceptance within some type of fantasized scene, kinda like the metal brotherhood shit, or just non-native speakers who don't realize how cringeworthy it sounds.

Their elitism is very funny, they even get mad at new listeners

It funny how he throws in half wits and troglodytes in an attempt to sound smart and condescending, but doesn't commit to the "string of random insults" writing style. Probably because he lacks the vocabulary to pull it off.
