which death album should i listen to first?

What are you talking about, Death is easily the best band to get into death metal. Even metalfags that don't care for the subgenre tend to like something from Death.

I got in through Symbolic, then TSOP, Human, ITP and then worked my way down. Spiritual Healing was hardest to get into for me, but now I just love them all equally.

Really, I think the best way to get into Death is chronologically. I mean, SBG is fine as an entry point, since it's pretty thrash oriented. Besides, Death musical evolution is one of the most interesting (if not the best) the genre has to offer. It's an excercise in coherence, each album is the logical evolution of the previous one.

I got into them from Human but any one of their albums is a good start. Very solid discography.
